PACKAGING PLANT FILLING, CLOSING AND LABELLING PLANT CONCEPTS, LOCATION AND LAYOUT Presented by, Himashree P 2017027017
Materials of any nature to be used for the containment, protection, handling, delivery and preservation of goods from the producer to the user or consumer are packaging materials.
CONCEPTS INVOLVED IN PAKAGING PLANT
1 Receiving products 2 Transporting the bottles or containers on to the packaging line from storage
FILLING Filling machines- Used to fill in pouches or bottles, depending on the product the ingredients are mixed and blended bottles are cleaned and sanitised and made ready for filling. fillers-to precise weight , level ,volume. ease of cleaning precleanser -used to cleanse and evacuate oxygen from packaging materials Sensors -positioned to ensure right amount of filling number of containers should equal the filler heads moving on the container
BOTTLE FILLING TRAY FILLING POUCH FILLING
Sealing done aseptically with package material that are sterilised After sealing the containers must be pasteurised Labelling of allergens , nutrition information must be done for consumer verification. product must be inspected with metal detectors in line process Leaker test, uniformity of weight and contents, volume filled, temperature of final product quality tests Labelling inspection
CONSIDERATION FOR PLANT LAYOUT Filling of products- packaging material, type of product Placement of filling and sealing machines Area for preparation of solution for cleansing. Moulding, blowing (pre forming ) operations for containers and their flow through conveyor. Room conditions for packaging. Handling of components after cleansing Inspection of products before and after filling, closing and packing. Movement of products to storage area. Environmental factors like site location, space planning , design features ,traffic flow of personnels and supplies Area planning depends on type of production – batch or continuous. Batch operations are suited for smaller volume production with minimum investment. All the process equipments has size limitations- larger ones need more space.
PLANT LOCATION The plant location is a business decision which is critical for any firm. There are several factors which affect the decision regarding facility location which includes competition, cost and other related effects. It is considered to be a scientific method. The decided location should be in such a way that it - Save a lot on transportation cost for materials, labour, import and export. The materials will be available at a comparatively low cost. Very easy access to production, distribution and sale of the products. The sales/demand for a product determines the volume of production The quality and size of the equipment, the area of the storage space, and other facilities which, in turn, determine the type of layout. Availability of skilled and non-skilled labour and technically qualified and trained managers. The availability of good manpower makes it a suitable location.
