Content Introduction Our Current Biometric Security Measures Why Palm Vein Authentication for security ? Working Benifits Application Comparison with Fingerprint Technology Advantages Disadvantages Conclusion Reference
Introduction Palm vein technology is an upcoming biometric authentication technology developed by FUJITSU - a Japanese IT company . It is the world’s first contactless personal identification system that uses the vein patterns in human palms to confirm a person’s identity. It is highly secure and accurate than other biometric technologies. Palm V ein Technology is being used in a wide range in Japan since 2004 , and significantly other countries Korea, Argentina, Mexico, China, Brazil, USA are implementing this technology
Our Current BioMETRIC Security Measures Fingerprint Recognition : This is one of the oldest and most widely used biometric methods. It involves capturing the unique pattern of ridges on a person's finger. Facial Recognition: This technology analyzes facial features to identify individuals. It has become increasingly sophisticated with advancements in artificial intelligence. Iris Recognition: This method focuses on the unique patterns in the iris of the eye. It is considered highly secure due to the complexity of iris patterns. Voice Recognition: This method analyzes the unique characteristics of a person's voice, such as pitch, tone, and rhythm.
Why Palm Secure for security? Vein patterns are unique to individuals and contain detailed characteristics for formulation of algorithm template. The sensor of the palm vein device can only recognize the pattern if the deoxidized haemoglobin is actively flowing within the individual's veins. Contactless authentication is hygienic and non-invasive, thus promoting high-level of user acceptance. Advanced authentication algorithm produces high level of accuracy and application versatility. Technology based on more than two decades of Fujitsu image recognition experience.

How It Works ?
Benefits of Palm vein technology High Security: Veins are located within the body are unique to each individual, making them highly secure and resistant to forgery Accuracy : Palms have a larger surface area than fingers, providing more data points for accurate identification Hygiene: Palm scanning is typically contactless, reducing the risk of germ transmission. Versatility: Palm scanning can be used in various sectors, including security, finance, healthcare, and access control
Application Palm Vein Technology is based on more than two decades of FUJITSU image recognition experience, and has a wide range of applications across all industry sectors.
In medical environment there is a demand for especially hygienic biometric devices Palm secure devices is used in hospitals for doctor and patient's identification . HEALTHCARE ACCESS CONTROL Uses to manage access to secure areas such as corporate offices, research labs, and restricted zones In front of the doors as a door lock to protect entrances and exit.
PERSONAL COMPUTERS For authorized LOGIN into personal computers and laptops PalmSecure mouse with a build- in sensor is used in personal computer. In Laptops sensor is just below the bottom right corner of the keyboard
In comparison with others technology Technology False Acceptance rate False Rejection Rate PalmSecure .00008% .01% Fingerprint 1-2% 3% Iris .0001% - .94% .99% - .2% Voice 2% 10% FUJITSU claims that their system has a FAR of less than 0.00008% and an FRR of 0.01%. Palm vein technology can be quickly deployed and offers fast and easy registration with minimal error.
Why is it better than Fingerprint ? The technique of identifying a person by their fingerprints has a number of serious disadvantages. Fingerprints are easily affected by external factors, like aging, disease, or the state of the skin on the hands. In contrast, palm vein patterns usually remain the same throughout the person's life. Therefore, the results of the measurements taken at a young age can serve as means of identification for years and years later.
The procedure is fast and easy It has high levels of security and privacy The equipment is small in size and portable The scanning progress are not affected by the state of the hand's surface Data gathered from one measurement can be used throughout the person's life Advantages
There are numerous factors that can affect the quality of the captured image such as body temperature, humidity, heat radiation, nearness of vein to surface, camera calibration and focus. It is still relatively expensive and not available for mass production yet. Disadvantages
Conclusion Palm Vein Technology is still not as well known as other biometric technologies, it is worth paying attention to. Palm vein patterns are unique to each person while hard to capture and imitate. Despite some minor disadvantages, scanning those can serve as a reliable means of authentication. The main features of the palm vein scanning technology are : Capturing unique vein patterns using near-infrared light Providing biometric data which does not change significantly during the person's life Contactless and fast way of verifying personal data Unlike fingerprints, receives little impact from the state of the person's skin
