PANGASINAN II GRASSROOT SPORTS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM EDUARDO Q. LAGMAY, II Principal III

High-quality physical education program is needed to increase the physical competence, health related fitness, self-responsibility and enjoyment of physical activity for all students and employees so that they can be physically active for lifetime.

Sport has a unique power to attract, mobilize and inspire. By its very nature, sport is about participation. It is about inclusion and citizenship. It stands for human values such as respect for the opponent, acceptance of binding rules, teamwork and fairness.

Physical activities like sports, whether for recreational, professional or educational purposes, are not merely about fitness or victory; above all, they are an essential building block of a prosperous and healthy society.

Sport has the potential to build bridges between people like no other sphere of human activity and the making of friendships and developing new relationships is part of the sporting endeavor.

Much like a country’s educational system, media or political and social movements, sporting events bring disparate people together by strengthening ties and celebrating the common ideals of fairness, sacrifice and hope.

Sports in society remind us that following prescribed rules does not have to be boring and that we must always carve out a place for fun in our lives.

PANGASINAN II GRASSROOT SPORTS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM Focuses on club system which aims to let teachers and students engage in physical activities. With our aim for healthier society, we must carry on developing our program by continuously encouraging more teachers and students if not all to participate in our sporting activities to further serve the purpose of the Physical Education curriculum and sports.

The social impact of sport should not be underestimated. Sport and physical activity help develop the personal skills of individuals. Values such as tolerance, self-discipline, team spirit and strength of character are demanded, practiced and promoted.

In this way, sport serves as an indispensable educational tool in the wider community. Sport can also play an important role in tackling some of the social challenges faced by society, including students escaping from classes, social exclusion, anti-social behavior and alcohol and substance misuse.

We must continue to promote sport and physical activity, to support our sporting bodies and to strive to provide the best sporting facilities we can, not just for our elite sportsmen and women but for people of all ages and all abilities. The grassroot sports development must be given focus in order to facilitate talents of youth and keep them away from negative activities and vices.

All of us involved in sport need to continue to work together and engage productively on matters that are important to sport. We have a mutual interest in seeing sport develop to its full potential.

Thus, the Promotion and support for the Pangasinan II Grassroot Sports Development Program is a must.
