HISTORY Plant papaya (Carica papaya L.) is derived from the area around Mexico and Costa Rica. In the mid 16th century, papaya plants ranging widely planted and cultivated in China and Malaysia. In the 19th century, is estimated to come to Indonesia (1925-1930). (Ashari, 2006).
