What is Paraphilia? Paraphilia is a type of Psychosexual Disorder characterized by recurrent, intense sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors generally involving the following: Non-human objects The suffering or humiliation of oneself or one's partner Children Non-consenting persons

Causes of Paraphilia Psychoanalysts theorize that an individual with a paraphilia is repeating a sexual habit that arose early in life. Behaviorists suggest that paraphilia begin through a process of conditioning . Nonsexual objects become sexually arousing if they are repeatedly associated with pleasurable sexual activity. Hormonal imbalance .

Exhibitionism / Flashing Behaviors involving exposure of the individual's genitals to an unsuspecting stranger. 

Pedophilia Sexual desire towards a prepubescent child or children.

Sadism Sexual satisfaction by implicting pain to a partner. Fascination with physical torture.

Masochism Sexual gratification from one's own pain or humiliation.

Sexual Fetishism The sexual arousal a person receives from a physical object. The object of interest is called the  fetish ; the person who has  a fetish  for that object is a  fetishist.

Transvestic Fetishism The practice of obtaining sexual satisfaction by dressing in the clothes of the opposite sex. An individual who practices this type of behavior is called Transvestite.

Partialism Sexual interest focusing on specific parts of the body. Also know as Body Worship .
