Power BI Online – https://app.powerbi.com Workspaces – A workspace is like a folder that is used to share reports and excel files (BI) Datasets – The ‘new’ tabular models located on Power BI Online Power BI App – Collection of reports or excel files from a single workspace What’s new/different with Power BI Online New Terminology

Certified Dataset  Any dataset that the BI group has created, reviewed, and/or validated that follows our predefined standard for consistency and completeness.  It also signifies that the business has reviewed and approved its use for consolidation and reporting purposes.   What is a certified object? Certified in Power BI If I use a certified dataset to make a report, is that report certified? No, the report must be submitted to the BI Team for review if you want it to be considered a certified report. Does it mean a certified dataset or report is 100% accurate? No, certified does not mean the information in the source system has been validated. It does mean that all the consolidation steps have been review and approved by the business. Certified Report  Any report that the BI group has created, reviewed, and/or validated that follows our predefined standard for consistency and completeness.  It also signifies that the business has reviewed and approved its use for consolidation and reporting purposes.

Collection of Reports The Finance App

Step 1 Open your Excel report that’s connected to the Finance Tabular Model and save a new copy before making any changes. Step 2 Open the ‘connection properties’ for the Finance Model by double clicking on it in the Queries and Connection tab (See diagram). Migrating Excel Connections to Datasets
