What is personality Assessment? Personality assessment is the measurement of personal characteristic. (Philip S. Holzman, Irwin G.Sarason, 1999) Assessment  is the cultivating stage of gathering information intended to advance psychological theory and research and to increase the probability that wise decisions will be made in applied settings. (Philip S. Holzman, Irwin G.Sarason, 1999)

What are the Benefits of Personality Assessment? Understand the behavior of a particular individual. Helps to conclude a conclusion about a possible future course of action. Helps make predications about a person’s unique future behavior. Predicts behavior of people. Adequately diagnose the presence and nature of psychological problem in a person.

What are the types of personality Tests? Interview Behavioral Observation Projective Tests Objective Personality Test

What is An interview? An interview is a conversation between two or more people where questions are asked by the interviewer to elicit facts or statements from the interviewee.

What are Examples of Interviews Questions? “Can you tell me a little about yourself ?” “What are your greatest professional strengths ?” “What do you consider to be your weaknesses ?” “What is your greatest professional achievement ?” “Where do you see yourself in five years ?”

What is behavioral observation? Behavioral observation is drawing conclusions about an individual's personality based on observations of his or her behaviors.

What are projective Tests? Tests that provide ambiguous stimuli designed to trigger projection of one’s inner dynamics. Some types of projective tests: Thematic Apperception Test Rorschach Inkblot Test

What is The Thematic Apperception Test? Developed by Henry Murray, this test allows people to express their inner feelings and interests through stories they make up about ambiguous scenes and pictures.

What is Rorschach's Inkblot test? A test composed of 10 inkblots designed by Herman Rorschach that seeks to identify people’s inner feelings by analyzing their interpretations of the blots. Rorschach’s test attempts to measure personality using unconscious reactions to the images.

What Are Objective Personality Tests? Objective Personality Tests present statements rather than ambiguous stimuli characteristics of projective tests. Some types of objective personality tests: MMPI Q-Sort MBTI

What is MMPI? Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory assists psychologists in identifying personality structure and psychopathology.

What is Q-Sort? Quick sort is a systematic study of participant viewpoints. This test is used to investigate the perspectives of participants who represent different stances on an issue, by having participants rank and sort a series of statements. (“Q-methodology”, 2014)

What is MBtI? The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is an introspective self-report questionnaire designed to indicate psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. (“ Myers–Briggs Type Indicator”, 2017)
