Phrase

Phrase A group of words which makes sense but not complete sense until and unless used in the sentence is called a Phrase. a blue shirt He is wearing a blue shirt.

Phrase A phrase is a related group of words, the words work together as a ‘unit’, but they do not have a subject and a verb. a blue shirt He is wearing a blue shirt.

Phrase Phrase is a group of words that functions in a sentence as a single part of speech. a blue shirt He is wearing a blue shirt.

Phrase A group of words which have a particular meaning when used together. a blue shirt He is wearing a blue shirt.

Noun Phrase

Noun Phrase A group of words that acts as a subject, an object or a complement and functions as a noun in a sentence with its modifiers or determiner is called a Noun Phrase.

Modifier: A word or group of words that describes/ qualifies a noun phrase is called modifier. Modifiers beautiful scene in the corner

Determiner: Determiners are used in front o f nouns to indicate whether y ou are referring to something specific or something of a particular type.

A noun phrase refers to words that work the same way as a noun with its modifiers or determiners.

An Adjective (modifier) An adjective refers to a word that describes a noun. The handsome man married today. He is wearing a blue shirt.

Prepositional Phrase (modifier) It refers to words that begin with a preposition but has an object at the end. The man in the room is our father.

Determiner A determiner clarifies/describes/introduces a noun. Examples include; the, this, that, these, those etc. These dresses are beautiful. I really miss those days.

A noun phrase is a group of words which tells you more about a noun. The big red ugly apples

Adjective Phrase A group of words that describes a noun/ pronoun in a sentence that what kind and which one the noun/pronoun is. It consists of an adjective plus any modifier. We can say an adjective phrase modifies/gives more information about a noun/pronoun and it does the work of an adjective.

It is a beautiful country. It is a country of beauty. noun phrase a djective phrase

I like blue dress. I like a dress of blue colour . We met a sensible man. We met a man of sense. He is a wealthy person. He is a person of great wealth. This old hat. This hat which is old.

An adjective phrase , just like an adjective, is used to describe a noun or a pronoun. The dog covered in mud is mine.
