DIAGNOSIS Menstrual history Suggested clinical findings-weight record, abdomen girth, histroy of false pain, obstetric palpation internal examination

INVESTIGATION AIMS To confirm the fetal maturity To detect placental insufficiency

ASSESSMENT OF FETAL MATURITY Sonography Amniocentesis Straight x-ray abdomen

ASSESSMENT OF FETAL WELL BEING NST Bio physical profile USG-AFI Doppler Clinical findings-Baby general appearance, fetal weight ,liqour amnii, placenta, cord

COMPLICATIONS-FETAL During pregnancy-fetal hypoxia- fetal distress Diminished placental function Oligohydrominos Meconium liqour

DURING LABOUR Fetal hypoxia and acidosis Labour dysfunction Meconium aspiration Risk of cord compression due to oligohydraminos Shoulder dystocia Birth trauma-instrumental delivery Operative delivery

FOLLOWING BIRTH Chemical pneumonitis ,atelectasis and pulmonary hypertension-meconium aspiration Hypoxia and respiratory failure Hypoglycemia and polycythemia Increased NICU admission

COMPLICATIONS-MATERNAL Hazards of induction Instrumental delivery Operative delivery
