About This Presentation

Potential Energy -stored energy

Slide Content

REVIEW CABBAGE RELAY (made of paper). The teacher will pass the cabbage with music and once the music stops, he/she will read the question and answer(piece of papers with question regarding the review on the laws of motions and its principles and examples. Whoever answer the questions will received points or badge stickers. Recall on the Newton’s Laws of Motion. 1. Law of Inertia 2, Law of Acceleration. 3. Law of Interaction.

POTENTIAL ENERGY

Objectives 1. Analyze the video about Potential Energy. 2. Realize how the sample situations applied potential energy. 3. Value the importance of the lesson in every day situations.

Class Edelweiss Group 1 Agripa Alba Almonte Arcinue Arganda, Bobby Abanilla Arganda, Hannah Arjona

GROUP 1 Which ball will come down with more energy, the ball from a height of 5 meters or to a 10 meter height slide?

GROUP 2 A 10 tons rock or a stone lying on top of the hill and it falls.

GROUP 3 If we cut the 10 meters rope with a 16 kilograms weight

GROUP 4 When the rubber of the catapult/ sling shot is stretched to a one half meter distance.

GROUP 5 Stretch position of bow and arrow.

POTENTIAL ENERGY

Potential energy

GROUP 1 Which ball will come down with more energy, the ball from a lower height or to a higher height?

BLUE BALL has more energy due to more height’ Energy possessed by an object due to its position. THE HIGHER THE POSITION OF AN OBJECT DUE TO ITS HIGHER POSITION FROM THE GROUND.

GROUP 2 A rock or a stone lying on top of the hill and it falls.

* When this rock is pushed off the hill, it falls with a great speed due to its higher position from the ground and have a great speed due to its potential energy.

GROUP 3 If we cut the rope with a heavy weight

If we cut the rope, the weight will come down with a great energy because it has a lot of potential energy due to its height and weight. Potential energy of a body depends upon the mass of the body and change in its position from the ground level.

GROUP 4 When the rubber of the catapult/ sling shot is stretched.

THE HEAVIER THE OBJECT, THE MORE THE POTENTIAL ENERGY. THE HIGHER THE OBJECT, THE MORE THE POTENTIAL ENERGY.

GROUP 5 Stretch position of bow and arrow.

Due to its stretch position, a lot if potential energy is there The more it is stretched, the more potential energy it will store. With more force, the arrow will go ahead.

Potential Energy- the energy which is stored in a object or a body due to its position configuration of parts. -energy possessed by an object due to its positions. The formula in solving for the potential energy is P.E. - mgh Where : P. E. = potential energy m=mass g= acceleration due to gravity of 9.8m/s 2 h= height

In MAPEH, before diving into the water, swimmers always stand on the diving board and stretch. While standing they have some amount of gravitational potential energy.

In ARALING PANLIPUNAN, water forms in the Philippines like water falls. Water at the top of a very high water fall possesses gravitational potential energy.

In TLE, thermal energy is used to cook food, Thermal energy is heat. Its converted from either electrical potential energy or chemical potential energy, depending on the cooking appliance.

Potential Energy- the energy which is stored in a object or a body due to its position configuration of parts. -energy possessed by an object due to its positions. -the formula in solving for the potentian energy is P.E. - mgh Where : P. E. = potential energy m=mass g= acceleration due to gravity of 9.8m/ s 2 h = height

Assignment : Answer the following questions: How is potential energy applied to the following scenarios: 1. Which ball will come down with more energy, the ball from a height of 5 meters or to a 10 meters height? 2. 10 tons of rock or a stone lying on top of the hill and it falls. 3. Water stored up in the dam or tanks on the top of the buildings. 4. If we cut the 9 meters rope with a 15 kg weight. 5. When the rubber of the catapult/ sling shot is stretched, 6. Stretch position of bow and arrow 7. Why does the water released from a dam has a huge energy to produce electricity.
