DEFINATION OF COMPUTER MEMORY COMPUTER  MEMORY  IS ANY PHYSICAL DEVICE CAPABLE OF STORING INFORMATION TEMPORARILY OR PERMANENTLY.

HISTORY IN 1834 , CHARLES BABBAGE BEGINS TO BUILD HIS "ANALYTICAL ENGINE", A PRECURSOR TO THE COMPUTER. IT USES READ-ONLY MEMORY IN THE FORM OF PUNCH CARDS .

WHAT IS RAM? IT IS THE PHYSICAL HARDWARE INSIDE A COMPUTER THAT TEMPORARILY STORES DATA, SERVING AS THE COMPUTER'S "WORKING" MEMORY.

WHAT IS ROM? READ-ONLY MEMORY (ROM) IS A TYPE OF STORAGE MEDIUM THAT PERMANENTLY STORES DATA ON PERSONAL COMPUTERS (PCS) AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES.

MEMORY DIVISION ACCORDING TO STORED INFORMATION VOLATILE MEMORY NON-VOLATILE MEMORY SEMI-VOLATILE MEMORY PROTECTED MEMORY

VOLATILE MEMORY VOLATILE MEMORY IS COMPUTER STORAGE THAT ONLY MAINTAINS ITS DATA WHILE THE DEVICE IS POWERED .

NONVOLATILE MEMORY NON-VOLATILE MEMORY  ( NVM ) OR  NON-VOLATILE STORAGE  IS A TYPE OF COMPUTER MEMORY THAT CAN RETRIEVE STORED INFORMATION EVEN AFTER HAVING BEEN POWER CYCLED .

PRIMARY MEMORY/ MAIN MEMORY PRIMARY MEMORY IS COMPUTER MEMORY THAT A PROCESSOR OR COMPUTER ACCESSES FIRST OR DIRECTLY. IT ALLOWS A PROCESSOR TO ACCESS RUNNING EXECUTION APPLICATIONS AND SERVICES THAT ARE TEMPORARILY STORED IN A SPECIFIC MEMORY LOCATION. EXAMPLE: RAM.

SECONDARY MEMORY SECONDARY MEMORY IS COMPUTER MEMORY THAT IS NON-VOLATILE AND PERSISTENT IN NATURE AND IS NOT DIRECTLY ACCESSED BY A COMPUTER/PROCESSOR. IT ALLOWS A USER TO STORE DATA THAT MAY BE INSTANTLY AND EASILY RETRIEVED, TRANSPORTED AND USED BY APPLICATIONS AND SERVICES. EXAMPLE: READ-ONLY MEMORY (ROM), FLASH DRIVES, HARD DISK DRIVES (HDD), MAGNETIC TAPES AND OTHER TYPES OF INTERNAL/EXTERNAL STORAGE MEDIA. 

CACHE MEMORY is high-speed static random access memory ( SRAM ) that a computer microprocessor can access more quickly than it can access regular random access memory ( RAM ). EXAMPLE: The Intel 80486 microprocessor

VIRTUAL MEMORY IN COMPUTING   VIRTUAL MEMORY IS A MEMORY MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUE THAT PROVIDES AN "IDEALIZED ABSTRACTION OF THE STORAGE RESOURCES. THAT ARE ACTUALLY AVAILABLE ON A GIVEN MACHINE“ WHICH "CREATES THE ILLUSION TO USERS OF A VERY LARGE (MAIN) MEMORY
