FAMILY LIFE STYLES AND TRANSITIONS

I n t r o d u c t i o n to Lifestyle  Alfred Alder gave the term lifestyle. He was an Austrian psychologist. He wrote a book named “ The Case of Miss R in 1929 ” . In the book, Alfred mentioned how a person ’ s childhood affects their lifestyle later.

What is family l i f e s t y l e ? • •  The way a family eats, the way that people communicate with each other, the way they interact with each other, and the activities the family does together, sleeping patterns, eating tendencies, level of physical activity, stress management practices, hydration habits.

It's a good idea for families to sit down to a healthy meal together. The activities that a family does together are part of their lifestyle.

Types of lifestyles Lifestyles can be based on your culture, work, and preferences. Some types of lifestyle are mentioned below: Healthy Lifestyle Nomadic Lifestyle Digital Lifestyle

1 ) HEALTHY LIFESTYLE: A healthy lifestyle includes eating nutritious food. You avoid junk food or fast food. To keep your body active, you eat a nutritious diet. This diet keeps you energetic. A healthy lifestyle is the first step towards an active lifestyle. Exp l anation

2 ) NOMADIC LIFESTYLE: A nomad is someone who wanders from one place to another.( The ancient people in central Asia acquired this lifestyle. They used to move around with their horses) . A nomadic lifestyle avoids attachment with anything. They move from place to place, and are comfortable in that.

3 ) DIGITAL LIFESTYLE: Digital lifestyle means that people can easily connect around the world by using internet and digital technologies, work from any location or create smart homes. Digital lifestyle is perceived positively both from individual and business level as it improves cooperation, communication and can help to reduce expenses. Examples: Websites, smartphones, digital televisions, Digital Music(recorder), Geolocation, Blogs, Social Media, Computers, Printers, ATMs, Digital Cameras, Cars and Other Vehicles, Robotics, Drones and Guided Missiles etc..

Qualities of a healthy and strong family

Qualities of a d y s f u n c t i o n a l family Qualities of dysfunctional family are: Parent ’ s Addiction Controlled family environment Mental illness Poor parenting Distressed or abusive environments

Good to know! The New ABCD of lifestyle is A – Anxiety (Mind control) B – Body (Diet & Exercise) C – Cigarette and addiction D – Direction in which we are moving E – Exercise F – Friends G--Guru or God and H – Humor. In this ABCDEFGH of lifestyle, if an individual gets 7 or 8 out of 10 marks every day, he is leading a healthy lifestyle. Trying to get 10 out of 10 adds to mental stress!

FAMILY TRANSITIONS

T r a n s i t i o n means: The process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another. Movement, passage, or change from one position to another.

WHAT IS FAMILY T R A N S I T I O N ?  A family structure transition occurs if the child experienced a change in family structure due to a parent getting married, divorced or cohabiting with a new partner.

Family T r a n s i t i o n includes: The birth/ adoption of a child A child starting childcare/ primary/ secondary school A child becoming an adolescent Work/ career/ school changes for any member of the family Child leaving home (first and last child in particular) Adult children becoming more committed in relationships with significant partners Parent/s retiring from work The birth of grandchildren The death of parent/s, grandparent/s, and other significant family members for any member of the family

Reasons of Transition of Family: Transition of a family may occurs due to following reasons: Marriage Birth of a child Children growing up and leaving home. Although cultural or socioeconomic influences may cause the timing of these events to vary, these transitions are a normal part of family life.
