2. SHELL The outer eggshell is made almost entirely of calcium and has a many as 8000 tiny pores.

3. INNER AND OUTER SHELL MEMBRANE These two membranes, are just inside the shell surrounding the albumen.

5. VITELLINE MEMBRANE It is a clear casing that encloses the egg yolk.

6. YOLK The yellow yolk is a major source of vitamins, minerals, almost half of protein , and all of the fat and cholesterol.

7. AIR CELL An air space forms when the contents of the egg cool and contract after the egg is laid.

8. GERMINAL DISK A small circular, white spot on the surface of the yolk, where the sperm enters the egg.

9. OUTER THIN AND INNER THICK ALBUMEN Outer thin is a narrow fluid layer next to the shell membrane. Inner thick is dense, matted, fibrous capsule of albumen around the membrane located nearest the yolk.
