Social graces and table etiquette

SOCIAL GRACES & ETIQUETTE Social graces are skills used to interact politely in social situations. Social graces are skills used to interact in social situations. They include manners, etiquette They include manners, etiquette, fashion and refinement.

Manners make a difference with how people feel about you. A person with good manners shows respects towards feelings and sentiments of others living in the surroundings. This are reflection of one’s education, values and sensitivity. The same could be manifested in several ways according to Samkar (2004) .

Etiquette consists of an “act of rules of living in our society.” The word etiquette comes from Old French, and means “ticket” or “label”. Etiquette refers to behaving in a socially responsible way. Etiquette refers to guidelines which control the way a responsible individual should behave in the society.

Example: "Please" and "thank you," holding doors, chewing with our mouths closed, dressing appropriately, shaking hands—these are all manners. They are important because they give us confidence, allow our focus to be on the substance of our interactions, and they tell us what to do and what to expect others to do in return.

TABLE ETIQUETTE The earliest Western dining traditions were documented by the Ancient Greeks. Table manners are the rules of etiquette used while eating, which may also include the use of utensils. Different cultures observe different rules for table manners. Each family or group sets its own standards for how strictly these rules are to be followed

INFORMAL TABLE SETTING -This is the style that fewer utensils are used and serving dishes are placed on the table FORMAL TABLE SETTING -This is the style of place setting you will see used at fine dining restaurants, formal events, and black tie weddings

SOCIAL GRACES & TABLE ETIQUETTE REPORT DOCUMENTARY 11/06/23

" Mabuhay!" INTRODUCTION Our Professor in Professional Development decided to have a group presentation in our next meeting. Our goal is to study and analyze the Proper Etiquette for each occassion, Social Grace, and Table Etiquettes.

Narrative Report Day 1: Groupings Ma'am. Esguerra gave each group a topic in what are the gonna present and discuss with the whole class Day 2: Title and Description We studied and learned the assigned topic for each of us, with each of us aiming to know every aspect of which section of the presentation we were assigned. Day 3: Overcoming Obstacles Our presentation journey is difficult since everyone is not attentive in group chat. Each member of the group does not perform well because of a lack of internet, and one of our members is on vacation due to a holiday/long weekend, but the other members continue to study about our topic. Day 4: Analyzed and Reflection At the end, each member completed their tasks and obligations, and after all of our efforts, we presented the assigned topic, and other members did their best to offer well-written reports on Social Graces and Table Etiquette. In the presentation, the corresponding lines of members are performed.

Ms. Esguerra, our Proffesor in Professional Development gave each group a topic to present in our next meeting before our long weeknend, and the topic assigend to us was Social Graces and Table Etiquette . On the long weeknd, Loren researched and watched videos of the topic that was assigned to our group, after that, she made the Power Point that our group presented. After the long weekend, we're back to school and after our first subject which is MACRO PERSPECTIVE, its time for the long awaited reporting. After Maám Esguerra walked in the classroom, we prepared and set up the laptop and TV that is gonna be used for our presentation and also the topic assigned to us. During the presentation, John Michael gave us a greeting and Shr proceed with the first part of our topic, he discussed about the meaning of Social Graces and how ETIQUETTE, MANNERS, FASHION & REFINEMENT are part of it. After Shr's discussion, John Michael discussed the meaning of MANNERS and gave us a brief explanation, and with the help of Jerson , he added some additional information about the meaning of MANNERS and gave us some example why having MANNERS is very important. After John Micahel's slide, JD discussed the meaning of Etiquette and where the word orginated from and with the help of Jerson, he added some additional information and gave us some example of how proper etiquette can change the view of a person. After JD's explanation, Patriz discussed the 3R's of Business Etiquette and how they are connected with our topic. After Patriz's discussion, Jerson and Robert , explained the 5 Basics of Business Etiquette and explained with the class on how they are important in our course, and they also gave us the different kinds of Etiquette and some example of it. After Jerson and Roberto's discussion, Josef Daniel discussed with the class the meaning of Table Etiquette and he also discussed the meaning of Table Settings, and with the help of Jethro and Rafael and their knowledge and experience, they showed the class the two types of proper table setting, namely the FORMAL and INFORMAL TABLE SETTING. Narrative Report

After all of that, the Group Presentation ended up in a success and each and everyone did their best and delivered the assigned topic with the class. W e didn't have enought time to give the class a quiz so Mrs. Esguerra decided that we should give the quiz on our next meeting in which the whole class celebrated and that gave them enought time to study and analyze the topic that we discussed namely Social Graced and Table Etiquette. On the next meeting, Jerson & Loren gave the class a short quiz about Social Graces and Table Etiquette. We also checked it right after the quiz was done and almost of the class got a Satisfactory score in which made us happy becuase they understand and listened in our reporting. Lastly, we are not justing reporting here, each and everyone in the group gained some imporatant knowledge, values, insights and learned about our topic. As students who takes the BSIHM course, we are very grateful that this topic was assigned to us because of how is it close to almost of our desired profession and we really did learn and gain something about this report.
