SYSTEM OVERVIEW The TAWS comprises aircraft sensors, computing function and warning outputs. The computer receives numerous inputs from on board sensors and processes these to determine if a hazardous situation is developing. The TAWS computing function can either be from a self-contained aircraft system .

ADVANTAGE It reduces the number of accident due to CFIT. It gives audio warning to the pilot when the aircraft approaches a high terrain. It also display terrain showing the height in colour code.

DISADVENTAGE It use the same display that is used to display weather information, air traffic and pre loaded moving map as well as runway position. It gives warning before 1 or 2 minuites .
