PARASUICIDE It is an attempt to commit an act similar to suicide, but a person does not intend to die. Often, it signals the need for help by letting others know what he/she feels. However, parasuicide must be able to taken seriously for it may also lead to death.

How will you recognize a person who has suicidal tendencies? Oftentimes, the person gives clues through his/her behavior and speech. Some of these clues may be: Talking about suicide or death Writing farewell letters or giving away valuable things to their friends and siblings Showing changes in behavior, moods and feelings

Anyone can be a victim, or it at risk of it, specially if his/her partner: Is a very jealous and/or spies on him/her Will not let him/her break off the relationship Hurts him/her in anyway, is violent, or brags about hurting other people Puts him/her down or makes him/her feel bad Forces him/her to have sex or makes him/her afraid to say no to sex Abuses drugs or alcohol; pressures him/her to use drugs or alcohol Has a history of bad relationship and blames it on others

STALKING Is a pattern of behavior that makes you feel afraid, nervous, harassed, or in danger. It is when someone repeatedly, contacts you, follows you, sends you things, and talks you, even when you don’t want them to. It is very threatening to the person being stalked, because the behaviors and actions of the stalker often invade his/her privacy.

GANG AND YOUTH VIOLENCE A gang is defined as a relatively tough, mostly street-based group of young people who regard themselves and may be seen by others as a group that engages in a range of criminal activity and violence. Often times, they are in conflict with other similar gangs. Most of the time they are involved in pretty crime or violence which may also include extortion, theft, robbery, and drugs

Fraternity – similar to a gang, a fraternity is a group of people with similar backgrounds, occupations, interests and tastes, that the youth may consider as a way to gain power and protection from its members. In contrast to a gang, a fraternity (usually for male) or sorority (usually for female), as our law states, is required to be registered with the proper school authorities before it conducts activities whether on or off-campus. If it is not registered, then it becomes illegal, as its initiation rites, the way to become part of the group, becomes unmonitored and may lead to violence caused by hazing. ILLEGAL FRATERNITY-RELATED VIOLENCE

KIDNAPPING It is seizing and detaining a person against his or her will with an intent to hold that person away for a length of time. The purpose of kidnapping includes gaining a ransom or reward in exchange of the victim’s freedom. kidnapping also takes place when a kidnapper has strange sexual thoughts or behaviors directed towards the victim. Other cases include holding victims captive on the basis of their nationality, ethnicity, religion, social status or organization affiliation, to attract public attention, or to make a statement.

Usually, this is not done for profit or money, but may happen out of revenge, periods of anger, or deep loss. For instance, abduction happens to children with separated parents, wherein the child may be tricked by one parent to come with him or her and take the child away from the other parents who has sole custody of the child. Another example is when people take hostages due to extreme emotions, or when ex-lover abducts a child in a hope that the relationship will be back to how it used to be.

ACTS OF TERROR It is the use of violence and intimidation to create climate of fear in population about a particular political objective. It has been practiced by political organizations with both rightist and leftist objectives, by nationalistic and religious group, by revolutionaries, and even by state of institutions such as armies, intelligence service, and police.

It consists of behaviors that are non-physical, but which can still be rather damaging, such as being threatening, insulting, or humiliating toward someone. Those who are abusive tend to be so because they believe it will give them more power and control in the relationship.
