PRE-READING ACTIVITIES - Display in the screen or write on the board the two key words related to the topic to arise their interest . 1-Work in pairs to comment their ideas or guesses about the meaning of the words and write them down . Questions about the text : True / False, quoting the evidence Jenny began to be a shoppaholic when she finished university . She can’t buy something everyday because sometimes she can’t go out . She sometimes feels guilty when she buys things she doesn’t use. Her dad thinks that she doesn’t have enough trousers . Tracey started drinking cola during exams to stay awake . TEXT WE JUST CAN’T STOP Jenny – The shopaholic A- Since I was a little girl I have always loved shopping. I walked around shops with my mum , beg ging her to buy me everything I saw . B- Last year I finished university and started earn ing money for the first time. I have a lot of spare cash now , and I spend it all on clothes . I spend about 500$ a week on clothes , handbags , and shoes . Walking out of a shop with a bag of new clothes is the best feeling in the world . C- I need to shop every day . If I can’t go out to shop, I shop online. Entering my credit card details and waiting for a parcel to arrive is very exciting . D- Sometimes I only wear what I buy once, but I never feel guilty . My dad tells me to stop spend ing . He says that I’ve already got a lot more than I need , but I love shopping and I’m not going to stop yet . Tracey – The colaholic E- I drink around 18 cans of cola every day . If I don’t drink it for more than an hour , I feel terrible and I start shak ing . It all started 6 years ago when I was on a diet and I drank cola instead of eating . After a few weeks , I couldn’t live without it . F- I have a bottle of cola beside my bed and I sometimes wake up at night to drink it . The first thing I do when I open my eyes in the morning is go to the fridge for a can of cola. I always carry a can or two in my handbag . I spend about 300$ a month on cola. G- I don’t know if it’s the taste of the caffeine or the sugar , but I know I’m addicted . Friends and people I work with tell me that drinking cola isn’t good for you . They say it’s bad for your stomach , but I like it too much to stop. WHILE READING ACTIVITIES- 9

GAME: Ball We need just one ball an a list of adverbs of frequency . The person who has the ball , has to choose and adverb , say it aloud and throw the ball to a mate.
