How to synthesis g-C 3 N 4 ? Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C₃N₄) can be synthesized through various methods, with the most common ones involving thermal polymerization or chemical methods. Direct thermal condensation method: A nitrogen-rich precursor, such as melamine or urea, is mixed in a crucible and heated the mixture in a tube furnace under an inert atmosphere (e.g., nitrogen gas) at high temperatures (typically 500-600°C) for several hours. The precursor undergoes polycondensation and cyclization reactions to form g-C₃N₄ nanosheets. After cooling, the resulting material is purified by washing with solvents and drying to obtain g-C₃N₄ powder.
Chemical exfoliation method: A nitrogen-rich precursor, such as melamine, is dissolved in a suitable solvent, such as ethanol or water. A template agent, such as a surfactant, is added to assist in the exfoliation process. Sonication of the solution is done to exfoliate the precursor into g-C₃N₄ nanosheets. Next centrifuge the solution is done to separate and collect the g-C₃N₄ nanosheets. Then purified g-C₃N₄ nanosheets is obtained by w ashing and drying the collected material. Researchers are continually exploring new approaches and variations to improve the synthesis process and tailor the properties of g-C₃N₄ for specific applications. How to synthesis g-C 3 N 4 ......?
