The meaning of Islam The five pillars of Islam give you the framework that gives schedule, controls and state of mind necessaries to prepare you into the real actions. It is the first to understand as a Muslim to get started and practice Islam fully. "So whoever hopes for the Meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness" (Surah Al- Kahf 18:110)
Five Pillars Of Islam SHAHADAH SALAT ZAKAT SWAM HAJJ
SHAHADAH As a Muslim we should testify and witness that" Allah is one and Muhammad is His Messenger". This statement of faith must be declared publicly. It should be a genuine belief which includes all the above articles of faith. "There is no deity except him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise" (Surah al Imran 3:18) Significance: Shahada is the first step to becoming a Muslim. It's the core belief that shapes their identity and guides their actions. Impact on Life: By saying the Shahada, Muslims commit to worshiping only Allah and following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. This gives them purpose and direction in life. It helps them make ethical choices and builds a sense of community with other Muslims.
SALAH Prayers is obligatory upon every Muslim Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance. ( Surah Taha 20:14) Praying to the Creator (Allah) on a daily basis is the best way to cultivate in a man a sound personality and to actualize his aspiration. In prayer, every muscle of the body joins the soul and the mind in the worship and glory of Allah. Significance: Praying helps Muslims stay connected to Allah and seek His guidance. It's a way to show devotion and gratitude. Impact on Life: Regular prayer teaches discipline and mindfulness. It gives Muslims a routine that keeps their faith strong. Praying together in groups also builds a sense of community and belonging.
ZAKAT Obligatory charity giving is an act of worship and spiritual investment. The literal meaning of Zakah is purity and refers to a mandatory charitable donation that Muslims with sufficient wealth must distribute among designated beneficiaries. Zakah is paid on the net balance after paying personal expenses, family expenses, due credits, taxes, etc." Take, [O Muhammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke [Allah's blessings] upon them." (Surah At Tawbah 9:103) Significance: Zakat is an act of worship that shows compassion and social responsibility. It helps reduce poverty and supports the less fortunate. Impact on Life: By giving Zakat, Muslims learn to be generous and responsible. It creates a fairer society by redistributing wealth. This act of charity also purifies their earnings and makes them more grateful.
SWAM Fasting is abstaining completely from eating, drinking, intimate sexual contacts and smoking from the break of dawn till sunset. It is a matchless Islamic institution which teaches man the principle of sincere love to God. Obligatory fasting is done once a year for the period of the month of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic year. "O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous." (Surah Al Baqarah 2:183) Significance: Fasting teaches self-control and empathy for those who are less fortunate. It's a time for spiritual reflection and growth. Impact on Life: Fasting helps Muslims develop patience and resilience. It encourages acts of worship and charity. The communal aspects of Ramadan, like sharing meals and attending mosque activities, strengthen family and community bonds. After Ramadan, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr, a joyful festival that brings everyone together.
HAJJ It is a pilgrimage to Mecca, at least once in a lifetime and it is obligatory upon every Muslim male and female who is mentally, physically and financially fit. Peace is the dominant theme. Peace with Allah, with one's soul, with one another, with all living creatures. To disturb the peace of anyone or any creature in any shape or form is strictly prohibited. Muslims from all walks of life, from every corner of the globe assemble in Mecca in response to the call of Allah "And complete the Hajj and "Umrah for Allah." (Surah Al Baqarah2:196) Significance: Hajj is a powerful act of worship that symbolizes unity, equality, and submission to Allah. It's a journey that allows Muslims to seek forgiveness and renew their faith. Impact on Life: Performing Hajj is a life-changing experience. It deepens a Muslim's faith and builds a sense of global Muslim unity. The rituals and challenges of the pilgrimage foster humility and gratitude. Completing Hajj strengthens their commitment to Islamic principles and values .
