SNEHA KALPANA Definition :- Sneha (Ghrita/Taila) is the preparation in which Sneha is boiled with prescribed Kashaya and Kalka of drugs according to formulation . This process ensures absorption of the active therapeutic properties of the ingredients used.
Aim of Sneha Murchana •The main aim of Sneha murchana is its remove ---- - Amadosha - Durgandha - Ugragandha - Sneha gets good smell and colour - It will get such a capability to receive more active principle - Potency of Sneha is also enhanced.
Precautions during Sneha murchana: 1.All the drugs should be converted into coarse powder. 2.Medicines dropped into Sneha after wetting. 3.Kalka should be added little by little in the vessels. 4.It should be done over mandagini ( Mild fire ). 5.Specially preparation of ghee only Go-ghrit is used.
Taila Murchana Samskara: Manjistha 1/16 Parts of Taila • Kumari 1/64 Parts • Haridra 1/64 parts • Ketaki 1/64 • Lodhra 1/64 • Triphala 1/64 Parts each • Nagarmotha 1/64 • Nalika 1/64 Parts • Netrabala 1/64 Parts • Tila oil 768 gms. • Water same quantity of oil
Procedure: • If ghee paka, First Murchitta Ghrita is collected in the vessels than properly melted, after melted all ghee than added Kalka and Drava dravya. • The whole contents boiled together till the liquid portion gets evaporated and ghee becomes free from froth. • Then filter with help of clean cloth and packed. • If Taila Kalpana First kalka and liquid are mixed than Sneha is added, boiled over Mandagini until watery portion is completely evaporated and froth appear. • Note: - Boiled is continued with stirring until ‘Sneha Siddhi lakshana are attained.
General method of preparation:- कल्काच्चतुर्गुणीकृत्य घृतं वा तैल मेव वा । चतुर्गुणे द्रवे साध्यं तस्य मात्रा पलोन्मिता ॥ (Sha. Madh. 9/1) Ingredients:- 1.Aushadhi Kalka. - 1 Parts 2. Sneha Kalka. - 2 Parts 3. Drava Dravya. - 16 Parts All these ingredients are taken together and paka is done.
Dose and Shelf life : • Ghrita : - 01 Pala (48 ml.). If internal use, •Taila: - 12 ml (internal) otherwise dose decided by surface area if use externally. • Self-life:- 16 months as per classics • 2 years for ghee and 3 years for Taila as per new Gazzeteenotification 2016 • Anupana :- As per disease Warm water, Honey, Sugar, Medicinal Powder, Decoctions etc.
Types of Sneha paka:- 1. Mridu paka: - A small quantity of kalka is taken out from the Sneha Patra & it pressed between fingers, in this stage kalka is sticky on touch due to presence of little moisture. It produce crackling sound when kept on fire. 2 . Madhyam paka: - in this stage kalka put on fire its burn without crackling sound and kalka still remain soft in consistence and non-sticky due to complete disappearance of water content. Kalka pressed between fingers Varti is made. 3. Khara paka : - A further degree of heating after madyampaka leads to Khara paka, this stage kalka is hard, rough due to excess heating .
Other paka :- • Surya paka (Aditya paka ):- This paka is necessary if drug which having volatile property and sensitive in nature. •Examples Kasisadi oil, kutaja Patra Taila . • Gandha paka ( Patra paka ): - it is process where Sneha is flavored by certain selected Gandha dravya . First, we completely warm Sneha than flame is off and add fine kalka of selected drugs added when Sneha is cool than filter and packed.
(A) Amapaka : - It is due to insufficient heat, which is not only ineffective but also cause of indigestion. The word Aama indicates reduced or decreased digestion capacity of Sneha . According to Bhav Mishra Amapaka is guru and will caus e loss of appetite and gastric disorder if internally used. (B) Dagdha paka : - After Khara paka will result in Dagdha paka . If used it caused burning sensation. This stage all contents of Sneha are burnt and no uses for any therapeuti c. purpose. • Note: - Both Amapaka and Dagdhapaka is not considered for purpose of therapeutic.
