Toxicology : The study of nature , effects , and detection of poisons and the treatments of poisoning.
Branches Of Toxicology : Clinical Toxicology Medical Toxicology Forensic Toxicology Industrial Toxicology Environmental Toxicology Biochemical And Molecular Toxicology Product Development Toxicology Regulatory Toxicology

Forensic Toxicologist Forensic Toxicologist is a person who must consider the context of an investigation , in particular any physical , symptoms recorded , and any evidence collected at a crime scene that may narrow the research such as pill bottles, powders , trace residues , and any available chemicals .
Important Factors in Forensic Toxicology : Does make the poison The concentration of chemical The threshold required to exert a particular effect How the interaction takes place Which factors are important in each exposure scenario
Poison : Poison is any substance when administered in living body through any route ( Inhalation , ingestion , injection , surface absorption ) will produce ill-health or death by its action which is due to Physical chemical Physiological properties . Examples Alphos Sulphuric acid Arsenic etc.
3. Neurotoxins Opium and its alkaloids like morphine , codeine , thebaine , Noscapine and Narceine . Cannabis , Atropa Belladonna , Cocaine , Camphor etc. 4. Cardiac Poison : Aconite Digitalis Tobacco 5.Respiratory Poison : Carbon Monoxide Carbon Dioxide Sulphur Dioxide War gas
Miscellaneous : Analgesics and Antipyretics Antihistamines Tranquilizers Antidepressant Hallucinogens Food Poisoning Drug Dependence
Types of Poisoning : 1.Acute Poisoning ; Acute Poisoning is caused by an excessive single dose , or several doses of a poison taken over a short interval of time 2. Chronic Poisoning ; Chronic Poisoning is caused by smaller doses over a period of time , resulting in gradual worsening 3. Sub-Acute Poisoning ; Sub-acute poisoning shows features of both acute and chronic poisoning . 4.Fulminant Poisoning ; Fulminant Poisoning produced by a massive dose . In this death occur rapidly , sometimes without proceeding symptoms.
Samples to be analyzed in Forensic Toxicology : Urine Blood Hair sample Oral fluid Other body fluids
