COLD – Drinks/ ice Cold wind Getting wet when over heated

SPHERE OF ACTION Skin Joints Muscles Blood vessels Nerves Deeper tissues

PATHOGENESIS BLOOD VESSELS Relaxation & weakening of capillary wall STASIS EXTRAVASATIONS Internal hemorrhages, bruises

MUSCLES, DEEPER TISSUES,NERVES, JOINTS INFLAMMATION SORE, LAME & BRUISED FEELING

ADAPTION OLD LABORERS (GARDENERS) Commercial travellers EASILY FATIGUED

MIND

Indifference

Fear of attack

Fright

HEAD Headache from occiput to vertex. Feels as if forehead contracted with bruised & soreness feelings. DUE TO CONGESTION

Itching around scalp & over back. < Hot bath

STOMACH Effect of cold/iced drinks when heated. Want of appetite with slight nausea.

SLEEP Wakes up early in morning (3 a.m.) can't get to sleep again.

MODALITIES AGGRAVATION Cold bathing, cold wind, injury, sprains, warmth of bed, before storm, left side. AMELIORATION Continued motion.

COMPARISON ARNICA RUTA RHUS. TOX STAPHYSAGARIA HYPERICUM LEDUM. PAL CALENDULA

Injuries from blunt instrument, over exertion, surgical operations, after parturition & prevent suppuration Affected parts become blue & black with extravasation of blood. Sore, bruised feeling that patient fears being struck by those coming towards him Bed seems too hard that must change position. ARNICA ACTION – Muscles, soft tissue. Superficial tissue trauma.

RHUS TOXICODENDRON ACTION – Component parts of joints Ligaments Fibrous tissues Tendons Bad effects of chronic injury or in acute attacks in rheumatic subjects .

Sprains, soreness of muscles & tendons from over lifting or reaching high up with arms. Pain as if muscle or tendon were torn from its attachment with lameness & stiffness . < On first beginning to move > Continued motion

HYPERICUM Action – Cerebro – spinal nervous system Causes vascular erethism Causes irritated & highly sensitive condition of those parts freely supplied with nerves.

WOUNDS

Injuries to parts rich in sentient nerves - fingers, toes, matrices of nails, spinal cord, nerves at peripheral extremities. Consequences of excessive pain & soreness in affected Unable to walk or stoop feeling of weakness & trembling of all limbs Numbness & cramping feeling. Spinal affections whether from injury or extreme sensitiveness of cervical vertebra to touch. patients screams if approach with terrible pain. < Change of weather > Bending head backwards
