CYBER SAFETY Internet safety or online safety or cyber safety or E-Safety is trying to be safe on the internet and is the act of maximizing a user's awareness of personal safety and security risks to private information and property associated with using the internet, and the self-protection from computer crime.

WHAT IS CYBER BULLYING? Cyberbullying or cyberharassments is a form of bullying or harassment using electronic means. Cyberbullying and cyberharassment are also known as online bullying. It has become increasingly common, especially among teenagers, as the digital sphere has expanded and technology has advanced. Some examples of Cyber Bullying  are-  Sending mean or threats to a person`s email account or cell phone. Spreading rumors online or through texts. Posting hurtful or Threatening messages on social networking sites or web pages. Stealing a person`s account information to break into their account and send damaging messages.

TYPES OF THREATS ONLINE 1.Computer virus 2.Trojan horse 3.Adware or Spyware 4.Computer worm 5.Phishing

Computer virus For everyday Internet users, computer viruses are one of the most common threats to cybersecurity. Statistics show that approximately 33% of household computers are affected with some type of malware, more than half of which are viruses. Computer viruses are pieces of software that are designed to be spread from one computer to another. They’re often sent as email attachments or downloaded from specific websites with the intent to infect your computer — and other computers on your contact list — by using systems on your network. Viruses are known to send spam, disable your security settings, corrupt and steal data from your computer including personal information such as passwords, even going as far as to delete everything on your hard drive.

TROJAN HORSE  Trojan malware takes its name from the classical story of the Trojan horse, because it imitates the technique to infect computers. A Trojan is a malicious program that pretends to be harmless in order to trick people into downloading it. Unlike viruses, Trojans do not self-replicate by infecting other files or computers. ADWARE OR SPYWARE Spyware is a type of malware that aims to gather information about a person or organization, without their knowledge, and send such information to hack another entity without the consumer's consent. Furthermore, spyware asserts control over a device without the consumer's knowledge, sending confidential information to another entity with the consumer's consent, through cookies.

HOW CAN WE STAY SAFE ON THE  INTERNET? Don`t give out personal information like:- Not sharing your name, your address, phone number, photo or your email account. Block strangers and people whom you don’t know.
