Here showing how preventive and reactive maintenance will done . Dhaka WASA DMA Manager and Deputy Manager are responsible for all maintenance of DMA(District Metered Area).

3. DMA Maintenance Preventive maintenance Wash Out of Distribution network Sometimes iron , sediment are gathered in distribution pipeline . So in every DMA there have some wash out point at the end of pipelines. DMA Team open the Wash Out point at every 2 month for 10 to 20 minutes to wash the iron , sediment in pipeline to deliver clean water to customer During Wash Out Clean After Wash Out Clean DMA Teams are doing many Preventive and Corrective maintenance of DMA Assets to ensure proper water supply for consumer . Here discussed some of them.

4. Sluice Valve(SV ) Maintenace In every 3 month DMA Team operate the SV to ensure if it is working or not. Also Operate SV for leakage repair, for water rationing etc.

5. Air Release Valve (ARV) Maintenance ARV are using both in distribution line and Pump. DMA team Maintenance all the ARV after every 3 month by terms.

6. BWM Maintenance of DTWs and Chambers Some times Iron is gathered in BWM Propeller. So it can not measure the correct water flow through it.So we clean the BWM after every 3 months Before Wash After Wash

7. DMA Chamber Maintenace 2types of DMA Chamber like Transmission Chamber to enter surface water to DMA. Inter DMA Chamber to sharing water between 2 DMAs DMA Chambers have various parts like PSV,PRV,NRV,BWM,ARV,PG point etc. DMA team open every parts of them after every 3 month and wash them.

8. New house connection with proper materials For connect new house connection we have some special materials like Ferule , Saddle, Gate valve , Service Coil pipe etc. We connect from top of the pipe to ensure clean water for all at same pressure.

9. Active Leak Detection A process where, instead of passive waiting for a leak to appear , we should do preventive leak searching . We use the following instrument for Active Leak Detection. But not got positive result as for huge sound pollution of roads at day and even at night time Ground Microphone Leak Sound Correlator Listening stick

10. Sluice Valve(SV) Locating & Raising Some SV are going under road carpet. DMA Team search the SV by Metal Detector and help to raise them from road carpeting.We use Road cutter, Hammer Drill MC etc Corrective maintenance

11. Metal Detector Machines The following instruments are using for SV/ARV/WO locating which are under road carpeting. Metal Detector Machine It has a alarm system. SV can be locate by listening volume of sound. Detect Metal more tan 1meter depth. Metal Detect by using Electromagnetic field It showing the positive , negative and Neutral Magnetic field surround the SV and can locate SV.

12. Perform Electrofusion for leakage repair Sometimes there occur some leakage in Transmission and distribution pipeline. DMA team perform electrofusion with Sleeve.

13. Water Crisis Management We are getting water from 2 sources. From Underground by DTW and from Surface water by SWTP, Podda Josholdia Water treatment plant etc. When DTW water decreasing , DTW breakdown or for Electricity disturbance sometimes water crisis happening to some areas. We are doing water rationing by operating SV ,House meter cleaning for iron or block ,Controlling DMA Chamber etc.

14. Disconnect Unauthorized Line We are taking legal action for unauthorized line and do GD to police. Then we go to field with Executive Magistrate or with Police with our Engineering team to disconnect the unauthorized line and make a penalty for them.

15. Checking Network Pressure and Flow with DATA Logger We have set DATA Logger to DMA Chambers. Then we can check the DMA Network Pressure and Flow with it and also can analyze the historical data of every month for.

16. Step Test Step test is defined as the Method of narrowing down the search for suspected leakage within a DMA . By successively isolating parts of the DMA and monitoring the effect on the water supply meter. Systematically reduce the size of the DMA by closing valves on each section of pipe, one after the other. At the same time record changes in flow rate at the DMA supply meter . Boundary valves( BV) – permanently shut Circulating valves (CV) – normally open but shut for the test Step valves (SV) – normally open but shut progressively

Monthly NRW Calculation DMA Team taking monthly Production data by SDMT mobile Apps online from all Pumps , Import Export Chambers and SDMT has taken Monthly Consumption data from MIS server .Then we calculate monthly NRW by SDMT quickly.
