ENVIRONMENT Environment is the nature and surroundings in which all plants , human beings , animals and other living beings live and operate. Every living and non – living thing is related to environment. Environment plays a vital role in giving birth to a new life. It provides us with fresh air that we breathe, water that we drink , the food that we eat and almost all resources. Environment also provides us with several other natural resources that are very important.

Component Of Environment…. There components of environment are: 1. Biotic components – it includes all biotic biotic factors or livingforms like plants animals and microorganisms. 2. Abiotic components – it include non – living factors like temperature , light , rainfall , soil , minerals ,etc. It comprises the atmosphere , lithosphere and hydrosphere.

Impact of Human Activities on the Environment There are various types of human activities which are directly contributing to environmental disasters such as acid rain , acidification of oceans , change in the climate , deforestation , depletion of an ozone layer , disposal of hazardous wastes , global warming , over population , pollution , etc.

Deforestation and Afforestation Deforestation – Deforestation is the process whereby natural forests are cleared through logging and burning, either to use the timber or to replace the area for alternative uses. Deforestations the direct or indirect human – induced conversion of forested land to non – forested land. Afforestation - Afforestation is the process of creating a new forest. Afforestation can help to bring climatic changes. It I considered as a process of establishment of the forest through natural succession. Afforestation with the help of tree planting bar helps to make tree planting easy.

Major environmental issues , natural environmental disasters 1. Drought – a long period in which there is little or no rain. 2. Greenhouse effect - an increases in the amount of carbon dioxide and other gases in the atmosphere is belived to be causes of a gradual warming of the Earth ‘s surface. 3. Ozone layer – A layer of air high above the earth , containing a large amount of ozone and preventing harmful ultraviolet light from the sun from reaching earth. 4. Pollution – Damage caused to water air land…….,etc. By harmful substance are reduced. 5. Volcano – A mountain with a large circular hole at the top through which lava, gases , steam, and dust are or have been expelled. -

World Environment Day 1. World environment day is observed by around 143 countries across the globe on 5 th June every year. 2. It was instituted by the united nation with an objectives to minimize human interference with the environment. 3.Since 1974, world environment day is celebrated every year with a specific environmental theme. 4.It helps to raise global awareness for environmental protection.

Measures To Protect The Environment Ceasing the use of poly bags , reusing some old items in novel ways, repairing and using broken items instead oftossing them away, estimating he cost of repairs, using rechargeable batteries or renewable alkaline , batteries , utilizing rainwater collection to reduce water waste , minimisn the use of electricity, etc.

Conclusion Some state goverments have also passed several laws to protect the environment. A ministry is working for the protection of the environment under the Central Government. For the solution of this problem, public support can prove to be very helpful and useful. Lack of development and development processes also posechallenges . We can have a positive impact on our environment. We can conserving natural resources and protecting organisms living on the earth.
