Introduction about the project 1. Indian women have shown remarkable progress in empowerment, with a notable 42.8% earning equal to or more than their husbands, although some still face challenges in financial confidence compared to men in investing. 2. The societal roles of women have evolved significantly, transitioning from traditional homemakers to active contributors in various sectors, particularly evident in Bangalore, Karnataka's capital, where they demonstrate effectiveness and impact. 3. Ballari district's unique industrial landscape, notably its denim garment industry featuring brands like Point Blank, Walker, Dragonfly, and Podium, employs nearly 3000 families and significantly influences the local economy. 4. “The study focuses on investment awareness among working women in Ballari” , specifically in this region, aiming to understand their investment knowledge, patterns, and preferences to inform financial planning. 5. Emphasizing financial independence and security, the study seeks to empower working women by uncovering insights that can help them make informed financial decisions and secure their future effectively.

Conceptual background Investment is acquiring assets for income or appreciation, where appreciation denotes increased asset value over time, aiming to build future wealth rather than immediate consumption. Objectives of project To assess the level of awareness among working women in Ballari about different investment avenues. To identify the investment options that working women in Ballari are currently utilizing. To understand the sources of information that working women in Ballari rely on for investment decisions. To identify the factors considered important by working women in Ballari when choosing investment avenues. An attempt has been made to measure various variables playing in the minds of investors in terms of safety, liquidity, service, returns, and tax saving.

Literature review Perception of Investors towards the investment pattern on different investment Avenues. (Manikandan 2018) – In India, usually all investment avenues professed risky by investors. Investment Profile of Working Women of Hyderabad Karnataka Region. ( EPRA International Journal of Economic and Business Review – Peer 2019) – The status of Women in India has been subject to many great changes over the millennia. Investment Awareness among Working Women with Reference to Mumbai Region (Dr. Navneeta Megnani 2020) – The percentage of Working Women is higher in the metro cities and Mumbai is being turned into metros. Investment Profile of Working Women of Hyderabad Karnataka Region (Dr. Veena M 2019) – Few literatures on women finance activities evidenced women consistently score lower than men on measures of involvement in financial activities. A study of factors influencing investor behavior towards gold as an Investment Avenue with factor analysis (Sonia Garg 2021) – Investment behavior varies on the basis of their needs; benefits return expectations towards various investment avenues. An Empirical Analysis on Perception of Investors towards various Investment Avenues (G Velmurugan 2015) – The economic liberalization and globalization have brought a fervent environment for the common and small investors who are willing to participate in the various investment avenues available in India. An Analysis of Investment Avenues in India: A Comparative Analysis of Government Benchmark Returns and Equity Mutual Funds in India (Aditi Pandey 2021) – Investment and savings are the key variables for the growth of an economy. Investments are channelizing by accumulating the savings.

Problem statement Inadequate awareness among working women in Ballari district, Karnataka, regarding various investment avenues hinders their ability to make informed financial decisions and achieve long-term financial goals. Factors contributing to this lack of awareness include limited access to financial education and societal norms . This study aims to assess the level of investment awareness among working women in Ballari, identify key areas of low awareness, and propose targeted interventions to empower them in making informed investment choices for improved financial well-being.

Data sample 1 Interpretation: When asked about the Rate your knowledge about various investment options available as working women, most of the respondents chose Moderately knowledgeable (46.2%), Very knowledgeable & slightly knowledgeable (25%) and not knowledgeable at all (3.8%) as their response.

Data sample 2 Interpretation : When asked about are you currently investing any portion of your income or savings majority of the respondents answered “Yes” (57.7%) and rest of the respondents answered “No” (42.3%).

Data sample 3   Interpretation : When asked If yes, which investment avenues are you currently using. Majority of the respondents preferred Fixed deposits (44.4%), followed by the other type of investment avenues (38.9%), followed by the mutual funds and gold and precious metals (25%), followed by Stocks and bonds (16.7%), followed by Real estate (8.3%) and Pension plans or retirement account (5.6%). So least of the respondents chose Pension plans or retirement accounts (5.6%).

Methodology This is a descriptive study. Two types of data were taken into consideration i.e., Secondary data & primary data. My major emphasis was on gathering the primary data. The secondary data has been used to make things clearer. Primary Data : Direct collection of data from the source of information technology including personal interviewing, survey etc. Secondary Data: Indirect collection of data from sources containing past or recent past information like Scholar Articles, Investment Brochures, Annual publications, Books, Fact sheets of various investment avenues, Newspaper & Magazines etc. The secondary data was collected to know the theoretical aspect of the mutual funds and also for the performance evaluation of various mutual fund schemes.
