PRESSURE VESSELS AND PIPING HAZARD - OVERVIEW 8 BUSINESS CONFIDENTIAL | ©Jabil Inc. 2019. All Rights Reserved.  Pressure Vessels are containers that are designed to hold liquids, vapors, or gases at high pressures. Pressure piping is a set of pipes that are used to contain fluid at high pressure. In this standard, the pressure criterion for pressure vessel and piping is the pressure equals to or greater than 0.1 MPa (1 bar, 15psig)

PRESSURE VESSELS AND PIPING HAZARD - OVERVIEW 9 BUSINESS CONFIDENTIAL | ©Jabil Inc. 2019. All Rights Reserved.  The potential hazards associated with pressure vessels and piping failure if not properly designed, constructed, operated, inspected, tested, or repaired are: Blast Effects Fragmentation damage Suffocation Poisoning Fire or explosion Chemical burns Thermal burns

PRESSURE VESSELS AND PIPING HAZARD – CATASTROPHIC INCIDENTS 10 BUSINESS CONFIDENTIAL | ©Jabil Inc. 2019. All Rights Reserved.

PRESSURE VESSELS AND PIPING HAZARD 11 BUSINESS CONFIDENTIAL | ©Jabil Inc. 2019. All Rights Reserved.  Why do pressure vessels or piping fail? Faulty design Improper sizing or pressure setting of pressure relief devices Change of service condition Operation above the maximum allowable working pressure Excessive Crack propagation Welding problems Inadequate Stress Analysis Erosion Lack of inspection and maintenance …

12 BUSINESS CONFIDENTIAL | ©Jabil Inc. 2019. All Rights Reserved.  Qualification of designing, construction and installation, and certification or license when required by local authority Design and construction in accordance with local or consensus standards Installation as per drawings, specifications, welding details and calculations, and having an authorized inspector for initial testing Registering the applicable equipment with local authority DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, INSTALLATION AND REGISTRATION

13 BUSINESS CONFIDENTIAL | ©Jabil Inc. 2019. All Rights Reserved.  MARK AND LABELLING – PRESSURE VESSELS AND PIPING Mark and labelling in accordance with local regulatory requirements Information below shall be listed in the mark on pressure vessel and piping: Manufacturer's name Equipment Name Size Date of manufacture Medium inside the pressure vessels or piping Design pressure Design temperature Working pressure Working temperature Emergency contact name, telephone number or other contact information Example: Pressure vessels nameplate

14 BUSINESS CONFIDENTIAL | ©Jabil Inc. 2019. All Rights Reserved.  Mark and labelling – pressure gauge Information below shall be listed in the mark on pressure gauge: Normal working pressure range Maximum allowable working pressure of vessels or piping Calibration date Expiration date or date for next calibration Example: working pressure range

15 BUSINESS CONFIDENTIAL | ©Jabil Inc. 2019. All Rights Reserved.  Mark and labelling – pressure relief devices Information below shall be listed in the mark on pressure relief devices: Set pressure Reseating pressure (for pressure relief valve) Calibration date Expiration date or date for next calibration Example: Pressure relief valve label Example: Rupture disk label

16 BUSINESS CONFIDENTIAL | ©Jabil Inc. 2019. All Rights Reserved.  All inspections and testing shall be conducted in accordance with the equipment’s specification, the manufacturer’s recommendations, local regulatory requirements, insurance provider requirements and accepted consensus standards. Required inspections cover: Routine inspections Annual inspections Initial or Post-assembly inspections Inspection after pressure relief valve activated Idle equipment Modified equipment Repaired or adjusted equipment Inspection and testing

17 BUSINESS CONFIDENTIAL | ©Jabil Inc. 2019. All Rights Reserved.  Jabil employees only can conduct visual inspection and testing. Site shall develop checklist for routine visual inspection. Inspection checklist shall include information: External coverings, including insulation and corrosion resistant coatings Entire exterior inspected for any kind of leakage of gas, vapor, or liquid Mountings inspected to see if any expansion or contraction Equipment and connections inspected for deformations, cuts, cracks, or gouges, including on nozzles, manholes, and reinforcing plates Nuts, bolts, flange faces, vessels surface inspected for corrosion or other defects Shell surfaces and heads inspected for blisters, bulges, or other deformations Welded joints and adjacent areas inspected for cracks or defects Pressure relief valve Pressure gauge Inspection and testing

18 BUSINESS CONFIDENTIAL | ©Jabil Inc. 2019. All Rights Reserved.  Site shall determine inspection frequency for pressure vessels and pressure piping in accordance with local regulatory requirements, manufacturer recommendation and Jabil insurance provider requirements. Site shall list the inspection frequency in the inventory and documented maintenance program. Greater hazard potential require inspections more frequent Inspection frequency should be established on an individual basis, within the context of manufacturer requirements and an analysis of the actual service. Frequency of inspection and testing

19 BUSINESS CONFIDENTIAL | ©Jabil Inc. 2019. All Rights Reserved.  Site shall establish a preventive maintenance program for applicable pressure vessels and piping following local regulatory requirements and manufacturer’s recommendation. Site shall determine and document the maintenance frequency in accordance with local regulatory requirements, manufacturer’s recommendation and insurance provider’s requirements. Site shall ensure that maintenance of pressure vessels and piping must be performed by a certified professional or a certificated contractor. Site shall ensure that rupture disk shall be replaced when damaged or regularly in accordance with local regulatory requirements and manufacturer’s recommendation. Preventive maintenance

20 BUSINESS CONFIDENTIAL | ©Jabil Inc. 2019. All Rights Reserved.  Pressure gauge, pressure relief valve, rupture disk and other pressure safety devices shall be calibrated prior to installation. Site shall ensure calibration prior to installation conducted by a competent contractor. The contractor shall be certificated when required by local authority. Calibration frequency shall be in accordance with local regulatory requirements, manufacturer’s recommendation and insurance provider’s requirements.
