INCLUSIVE EDUCATION UNESCO defines inclusive education as a process intended to respond to students’ diversity by increasing their participation and reducing exclusion within and from education. It is related to attendance, participation and achievement of all students, specially those who, due to different reasons, are excluded or at risk of being marginalized.

PRINCIPLES OF INCLUSIVE EDUCATION 1. PRINCIPLE OF EDUCATION FOR ALL Inclusive education to have provision for the education for all, irrespective of sex, physical and mental characteristics, socio-economic status and cultural variations.

2. PRINCIPLE OF TOGETHERNESS It provides such learning environment that promotes all round development of all learners together in the same educational setting. It is an approach which brings all children together in a common educational community. Relationship between the family, administrations, teachers, classmates etc., should be needed to run the inclusive school and very basic step to enhance the inclusive education.

3. PRINCIPLE OF EQUALITY All the students should be treated equally in the school and there should not be any kind of discrimination on the basis of their disabilities. Indian Constitution guarantees some educational rights for children. Every one has the right to access knowledge, skill and information. Inclusive education deems fit to fulfil its constitutional responsibility by calling for all groups of children to learn together and from that learn to live together. It includes all those sections of people and provides equality to all.

4 . PRINCIPLE OF PARTICIPATION Inclusive education provides opportunities for the students with disabilities for the active participation equally. All the student and their family members should be motivated to participate in every events, programmes , schemes, initiatives etc. Regular participation enhances the confidence of the students as well as their family members.

5. PRINCIPLE OF ACCEPTANCE / PRINCIPLE OF ZERO REJECTION Every parents wants to their child to learn or educate with all other students in a regular classroom and become able to lead their life independently. In inclusive education all the students should be welcomed and accepted without any kind of discrimination on the basis of caste, religion, race, disabilities etc.

6. PRINCIPLE OF INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES Each children is different and unique. Even twins are alike not the same. It considers this principle of individual differences of the children in the learning atmosphere. And that is why it benefits all the children.

7. PRINCIPLE OF ACCESS Home to School Access to all school areas Access to schemes Access to all functions

8. PRINCIPLE OF NON-DISCRIMINATION Non-discriminate in teaching process. Non-discriminate in behaviour Expressing equality Full participation and equal opportunities to all activities

9. PRINCIPLE OF CHANGE Inclusive education tries to change the system of education to meet the requirement of the child and not about the change of the children to fit the education system. It tries to include all the children for equal education irrespective of their differences.

10. PRINCIPAL OF POSITIVE ATTITUDE Attitudes have great influence on people’s behaviour . Attitudes represent relatively stable knowledge, emotions and reactions towards people, phenomena and situations.

11. PRINCIPLE OF NEED-BASED Inclusive education meet the personal and educational needs of the disabled and handicapped children enabling them to realize the optimum development of the potentials whatsoever they have. Inclusive education considers every child important not less than any other, recognizes his/her strengths, and provide opportunities to transform that strength into a creative or special potential.

12. PRINCIPLE OF SOCIAL SECURITY/ SOCIAL RELATIONSHIP Inclusive education helping them to have a respectable space in society so that society may feel that they are too are the important part of the societal system . This will reduce the gap between them and a strong bridge will be established which lead to common platform of learning.

13. PRINCIPLE OF UNDERSTANDING Inclusive Education ensures the understanding of the children in regular education system. This lead to comfortable adjustment of both the disabled and non-disabled children.
