C18 DPF Regeneration Introduction DPF lamp will be a c t i v e w he n r e g e n i s n ee d e d • The trapped particulate matter (soot) is cleaned from the DPF through a catalytic reaction and by heating the filter through a process called Regeneration. Regeneration can be triggered by soot level and other maintenance activities. Regeneration can happen automatically: Be aware of high exhaust temperature when regeneration is happening. DPF will have to be replaced if soot load exceeds maximum limit; • • • Below lamp is on when regen is happening • When regeneration fails, call your dealership to support. © 2023 Caterpillar.
