Production system A Production System implies the set-up consisting of assets such as facilities, machines and equipment that transform resources into valuable output using processes and technology . we can understand it as a system that converts factor inputs into outputs which is capable of satisfying the market demand.

Production system is a combination of three significant components : Input (Capital, Machines, Equipment & Tools, Labour ) Conversion Process Output (Goods and Services)

C haracteristics of Production System Production is an organized activity, so every production system has an objective. The system transforms the various inputs to useful outputs. 3. It does not operate in isolation from the other organization system. 4. There exists a feedback about the activities, which is essential to control and improve system performance.

Intermittent Production System : Project Production Project production is characterized by complex sets of activities that must be performed in a particular order within the given period and within the estimated expenditure. Example- Airport, Dams,  Buildings, Bridge

Intermittent Production System : Jobbing Production Job production is a manufacturing process which involves workers making a single unique customized product for a single customer. Depending upon the customer needs, job production method is used to create a product from start to finish. This method of production is not used for producing goods in mass quantity . Example- Hairdressers · Tailoring · Painting and decorating ·

Intermittent Production System : Batch Production Batch production is a method whereby a group of identical products are produced simultaneously (rather than one at a time). It is up to the manufacturer to decide how big the batch will be, and how often these batches will be made. Each batch can be different, as manufacturers can decide to change the specifications from one group of products to the next. Perhaps it is necessary to change the colour or size of that particular group. Example- Clothing , Fast food ,Computer chips ,Print media:( magazines, newspapers, books) , software , Pharmaceuticals

Continuous Production System : Mass Production Mass production means there is continuous production and all employees work continuously to produce the same items at the same time. In this kind of production, the forms and size of the products remain the same and every employee focuses on the same product. Example- If one company is producing only white bread on a huge level, all employees will focus on the white bread packets only. In this process, most employees will be working towards white bread making: preparing the dough, baking, etc.

Continuous Production System : Process Production This refers to the process used to Extract products such as oil and gas . It make possible a continuous flow of production , using expensive machinery , highly automated methods and a mass marketing technique. Example- Oil Refining Cement Factory
