Production technology in acid lime

INTRODUCTION 1) Acid lime  is one of the four commercially important citrus fruits grown in India among citrus species which are grown commercially. Common name: Acid lime Scientific Name: Citrus aurantifolia VARITIES OF ACID LIME 2) Local verities, PKM1, Vikram and Rasraj are the popular varieties in acid lime.

SOIL AND CLIMATE Soil Composition. Although lemon trees can grow in nearly any soil with good drainage, they grow best in loamy or sandy loam soils. Trees planted in salty, heavy clay and high caliche soils suffer problematic and declined growth. Lemons also prefer soil pH levels between 5.5 and 6.5.

PLANTING SYSTEMS OF ACID LIME

Irrigation system of acid lime

MANURES AND FERTILIZERS   Taiwan of Where to Take a Citrus Leaf Sample for Analysis (3RD or 4TH Leaf of a Current-Year Spring Flush, on a Non-Fruiting Twig)   Acid lime Which Has Been Given Too Much Nitrogen Fertilizer. the Fruit Have Thick Peel, a Low Sugar Content and Delayed Color Break .

Symptoms of Severe Nitrogen Deficiency. the Tree Lacks Vigor, the Yield Is Low, and Leaves Are Yellow or Pale Green. Leaves Fall Early, As They Do Also in Orchards Which Are Infected with Nematodes. Several Deficiency Symptoms (Iron, Manganese and Zinc) Occurring Together in a Wentan Pummelo Tree Grown in a Calcareous Soil. Some Young Leaves Are a Conspicuous Whitish-Yellow Color, Showing Iron Deficiency, While Others Show Typical Symptoms of Zinc or Manganese Deficiency.

INTER CROPPING

DIFFERENT VRIETIES OF LIME Persian or Tahitian Limes Persian lime (Citrus × latifolia), also known by other  common names  such as seedless lime, Bearss lime and Tahiti lime, is a  citrus  fruit species of  hybrid  origin, known only in  cultivation .   The Persian lime is a  triploid   cross  between  key lime  ( Citrus × aurantiifolia ) and  lemon  ( Citrus   limon ).

Mexican or Key Limes The Key lime (Citrus × aurantiifolia) is a  citrus hybrid  ( C. micrantha  x  C. medica ) with a spherical fruit, 2.5–5 cm (1–2 in) in diameter. The Key lime is usually picked while it is still green but it becomes yellow when ripe. It is smaller and seedier, with a higher acidity, a stronger aroma, and a thinner  rind , than that of the  Persian lime  (Citrus × latifolia).

Kaffir Limes Citrus hystrix, called the kaffir lime, makrut lime or Mauritius papeda, is a  citrus fruit  native to  tropical Southeast Asia  and southern  China . Its fruit and leaves are used in  Southeast Asian cuisine  and its  essential oil  is used in perfumery.  Its rind and crushed leaves emit an intense citrus fragrance.

Australian Desert Lime The Australian Desert Lime is small with an intense, piquant flavour . An extremely versatile fruit they can be used in any product or process where 'normal' limes or lemons are used, the main difference being their small size, lack of peel and more intense flavour.

Calamansi or Calamondin Calamondin also known as calamansi, is an economically-important citrus hybrid ... The fruit of the calamondin resembles a small, round lime, usually 25–35 mm (0.98–1.38 in) in diameter, but sometimes up to 45 mm (1.8 in).

Rangpur Lime Rangpur,  Citrus  ×  limonia  or  Citrus reticulata  x  medica , sometimes called the rangpur lime, mandarin lime or lemandarin, is a hybrid between the  mandarin orange  and the  citron .

PESTS AND DISEASES LEAF MINER This pests can be controlled by spraying DICHLORO 76 WSC @ 1ML/ litre or dimethoate at 30 EC @ 20 ml/lit

LEAF CATERPILLER To prevent it spray quinalphos 25EC @ 2ml/litre is sprayed to control.

SUCKING PESTS WHITE FLY To control it spray QUINALPHOS 25 EC @ 2ml/liter

FRUIT SUCKING MOTH To control this prune the weathered shoots for about 4 cm of height and spray MONOCROTOPHOS 36 WSC @ 1 ml/litre or QUINALPHOS 25 EC @ 1 lit EC.

Fruit fly Prune the withered shoots of about 4 cm below the dried portions and spray MONOCROTOPHOS 36 WSC @ 1.5 ml/lit

METHODS OF PROPAGATION IN ACID LIME May to July is the ideal period for air layering. ... Propagation by cuttings: In this  method , cutting of plant parts (specially stem, leaf or root) are used for  propagation . Hard wood and semi hard wood cuttings are generally used for  propagation .
