What is A PMIS? PMIS is an acronym for P roject M anagement I nformation S ystem. Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) are software applications that help managers to track the projects from their conception to their execution . A PMIS can calculate schedules, costs, expectations and likely results.
Goal of PMIS To automate, organize and provide control of the project management processes to boost efficiency by making the development cycle more visible among the employees Each individual shall be able to track specific tasks or activities of the project. Each employee must have a better understanding of how the project is going on.
Need of Pmis At present day, the projects are bigger in size and are way too much complex, so to obtain data and deliver information to functional managers in corporate office and authorized persons at the project site.

Responsibilities of PMIS Project Plan Development Identifying constraints affecting the project Involves stakeholders in the process of planning Finalizing the project plan Project Plan Execution Review Performance and provide feedback to project team Provide authorization to team members to access information Communicates with stakeholders Issue PMIS reports Conduct status review meetings
Responsibilities of PMIS (contd.) Project Change of scope Setup an integrated change control system for the project Evaluate implication of changes to the project and incorporates approved changes into a revised project baseline Issue revised project plans resulting from approved changes Identify , analyze and compile historical records and lessons learned as and when they occur
