Hello everyone! My name is Larry the llama and I’m here to teach you about common and proper nouns. We know that nouns are people, places, things, animals and ideas. Common nouns tell us what kind of noun, like llama (animal). Proper nouns give a name to a common noun, like Larry. Proper nouns always begin with a capital letter! Let’s look at some more examples..

Garfield is a cat name we all know! Notice it begins with a capital letter like all proper nouns.

Philadelphia is a proper noun because it names a city. It starts with a capital letter like all proper nouns.
