PROPERTIES OF LIGHT Presented by Navyasree .m Keyi Sahib Training College
Reflection Bouncing back of a light ray after hitting any surface is known as reflection
Refraction Refraction is the bending of a wave when it enters a medium where its speed is different
Scattering Scattering of light is the phenomenon by which a beam of light is redirected in many different directions when it is interacts with a particle of matter
Dispersion The process of splitting of white light into seven colours is called dispersion of light
Interference Interference is a phenomenon in which two waves superpose to form resultant wave of greater , lower, or the same amplitude
Diffraction T he process by which a beam of light or other system of waves is spread out as a result of passing through a narrow aperture or across an edge
Total Internal Reflection Complete reflection of a ray of light within a medium such as water or glass from the surrounding surfaces back into the medium. It occurs when the angle of incidence is greater than critical angle.
Polarization The process of transforming unpolarized light into polarized light is known as polarization.
