Washington and Monroe believed that the United States should not get involved in European affairs,
and in hindsight, all foreign affairs, such as ones in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Many
Americans, including me, believe that we should not meddle in others affairs and keep to ourselves.
There are several strong political, and ethical arguments both sides can make. Personally, I do not
consider the other side to be wrong, there is truth to both ends of this debate, but then again, the same

But, one must think, how much is a foreigner s life compared to a fellow American s. The more
religious among the citizens believe that every life is equal, and they are not wrong from an ethical
standpoint. But many politicians, myself included, value American lives more than foreign ones,
although it is not ethically sound, I will always value a neighbor more than a stranger. Back again to
the Isis debate, if we did not intervene, all those people they were spiritually cleansing would have
been massacred, or at least more of them would have died. This also brings us back to the lives debate,
our intervention might lead to another ground invasion of the Middle East and lead to more of our
brave men and women being killed, all for some foreign men and women who refused to adopt Isis s
religion. It may not be ethically sound but I would sacrifice any number of strangers, than have to tell
an American mother or Father that their son or daughter died overseas and wouldn t be coming home.
That s only speaking of our current conflict as well, I m sure we saved many Korean, Vietnamese, and
Iraqi civilians, but at the cost of thousands of our own brave citizens. Sometimes the right decision is
