8. Bird perches Bird perches are resting places for predatory birds to rest and to look for preys; such as insect pests of cotton, peanuts, and cowpeas. Predatory birds prefer to look for prey in field crops where they have places to rest. To make bird perches, use bamboo or wooden poles or tree branches.

9. INTERCROPS Intercropping is growing two or more crops next to each other at the same time. The main purpose of intercropping is to produce more crops in a given area. It also makes use of resources (nutrients) that would otherwise not be used by a single crop. Crops are selected such that their nutrient requirements are different. This way, the crops can give the same returns but require less space.

10. CROP ROTATION Crop rotation is the practice of growing a series of dissimilar or different types of crops in the same area in sequenced seasons. It is done so that the soil of farms is not used for only one set of nutrients. It helps in reducing soil erosion and increases soil fertility and crop yield.
11. PREDATORS The arthropod predators of insects and mites include beetles, true bugs, lacewings, flies, midges, spiders, wasps, and predatory mites. Insect predators can be found throughout plants, including the parts below ground, as well as in nearby shrubs and trees. Some predators are specialized in their choice of prey, others are generalists. Some are extremely useful natural enemies of insect pests. Unfortunately, some prey on other beneficial insects as well as pests.
12. YELLOW STICKY TRAPS Take new or used sheet of plywoodboard or hardboard or card board. Paint it with Yellow colour oil paint. Allow it for drying. Apply grease or glue on the painted board. Erect these traps above crop canopy with the help of bamboo poles.
YELLOW STICKY TRAPS
Cleaning of traps: Clean the tin or plywood or hardwood traps by dipping into the hot water for couple of minutes to soften the sticky coating. Discard dead insects by using brush or duster. Dry the traps completely and recoat with similar glue for reinstallation. Cardbord traps should be discarded after use.
