Slide Content

TRY IN

(A)On the articulator
- Fit on the model
-No sharp edges on the wax
-Clean
-Tooth position, angulation and occlusion
-Intermaxillary distance

(B) Existing dentures
- Tooth position and selection
- Arch form
-Incisal length
-Thickness and extent of periphery

(C) In the mouth
•Explain limitations
•Lip and cheek support
•Incisal length - as determined at JRR
•Occlusal plane
•Midline
•Smile line
•Jaw relation
•Horizontal- MIC has to occur at centric relation
•Vertical - achieved the predetermined FWS
•Total - MIC occurs in centric relation at the predetermined OVD
Anrinette van der Goot
Relates to FWS
- increased IMD = decreased
FWS
Acrylic one will be
-less pink
-better fit
-be smoother
-Nasolabial angle
-Sinuous lip shape
-Philtrum
-Vermillion area (1:1)
-Wrinkles
-Nasolabial folds
-Md molars 1/2 up RMP
-Tip of md canine/premolar cusp at
corner of the mouth
-Lat tongue overlap lingual cusps
- Parallel to rideges

•Occlusion (micro level)
•Tap-Tap in centric relation
•Articulation
•Protrusion
•Lateral movements
•Function
•S-sound —> checks FWS
•F- sound —> Check mx incisal length and inclination
•Smile
•Minimal wax showing
•Follow curve of lower lip
•Sufficient buccal corridor
•Symmetry
•Pleasing effect
•Aesthetics
•Neutral zone
•Specific requirements
•Check periphery
•Pt consent and sign
•Lab instructions
•“Please finish in acrylic full upper and lower”
•Undercuts
•Relief areas
Anrinette van der Goot
Have to hold mx and md dentures in place
-Premolars should almost touch, but don’t
-If touch - insufficient FWS
-If too far - too much FWS
Md lip should just touch mx central
-If doesn’t touch and mx teeth behind: Mx too retroclined
-Overlap = too long
-If lip doesn’t touch = too short
