Introduction The MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING(MRI)was discovered in 1970,by PAUL C LAUTERBUR .He jointly used a radiofrequency(RF)and Spatial magnetic field gradients to generate images that display magnetic properties of the proton,reflecting clinically relevent Information. Basically, it is nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) technique applied for human imaging.Nobel prize in medicine(2003), was awarded for the above discovery whichwas s hared by SIR PETER MANSFIELD and PAUL C LAUTERBUR. 1 Sir paul c Lauterbur

MRI Basic Principles The basic principle of MRI i s NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE(NMR) discovered by DR ISIDOR RABI ,which is t he spectroscopic study of t he magnetic proprties oft he nucleus of the atom or it i s t he magnetic behavior O f nucleus which e mits or a bsorbs energy in t he P resence o f magnetic field. Protons a nd neutrons o f t he nucleus have magnetic f ield a ssociated w ith t heir n uclear spin and c harge distribution. The another principle of NMR is R ESONANCE .It is an energy coupling t hat causes the individual nuclei,when place dinstrongexternalmagneticfield,to selectively absorb,and later releases,energy unique to those nuclei and their environment.Or It simply means the matching of two different frequencies with increase in the amplitude. 2

MRI Components Magnet Permanent magnet Resestive magnet Superconducting magnet:here shim coils are also used to remove the inhomogenity. 3

MRI PROTOTYPE The first and most important scenario is :MRI Machine SHOULD BE REDUCED IN SIZE, as it needs a large area to be set in a place. So to minimize the size we should use small size magnet with high intensity which could balance the other aspects aswell. 4

Here its important to mention that MRI is costly examination which most of the patients can’t afford. If we reduce the size by using small size magnet it means the product is making in cheaper rates than before. Here its very new and innovative idea which helps the patients for the examination of MRI on cheaper rates. 5

MOBILE-MRI For emergency Exams During emergency cases like trauma or accidental cases, the patients life is in danger. We can’t move patients from x. Ray to c. T or MRI room, instead of that there should be mobile MRI scanner which can be used during emergency . Here we know that MRI room should be non-metallic so, to maintain the scenario there should be a seperate room near O. P. D or emergency room Where mobile MRI scanner could be used. 6

MRI_MOTION –FREE EXAMS The system can be personalization for each patients with selection of video themes viewable from inside MRI with addition of sounds also. Here we already know that noise is one of the most uncomfortable part of MRI exam for most of the patients, so the system provides upto 80% noise reduction. It helps the patients to sit comfortably and for motion free exam of MRI. 7

Motion-free MRI exam (Pediatric patients) As already mentioned in the above slide , systems can be personalization for patients with selection of videos. Apart from all this, we know MRI exam takes much time and children don’t have such type of patience to sit in such a place. Our first motive is patients comfort. The walls of the room should b painted with cartoon like structures and the machine should also looks like different so that patient can easily sit with comfortably 8
