Young children are driven by the id and demand immediate satisfaction. At around age seven, we begin to develop a superego and want to become good moral citizens and please others. The ego is formed with adolescence to balance the two forces.

Freud's Eros: The Life Drive Life instinct is sometimes refered to as sexual instincts.The life instinct are those we rely on for survival,pleasure and reproduction .The life instincts are a necessity for sustaining both individual and global human existence.While often called sexual insticts basic drives such as thirst,hunger and pain AVOIDANCE are also taken care of.The energy created by life instinct is known as 'Libido' the latin word for 'I desire'.

Freud's Thanatos: The Death Drive He theorized that humans are driven toward death and destruction, famously declaring that “the aim of all life is death.“ his death drive outward, which manifests as aggression toward others. People also can direct this drive inward, however, which can result in self-harm or suicide.
