About This Presentation

QUARTER 1 WEEK 1 LESSONS FROM DAY1-5

Slide Content

WEEK 1 Describe the appearance and uses of uniform and non-uniform mixtures. S6MT-Ia-c-1

DAY 1 Recall the states of matter.

Picture Analysis: Solid, liquid or Gas? 3. 2. 2.

Picture Analysis: Solid, liquid or Gas? What could be the relationship of the three pictures?

Question of the day? What are the three physical states of matter and what do you know about the three?

Complete the KWL Chart What you KNOW? What you WANT to know more? What You have LEARNED? 1.Matter 2.State of matter

Matter is anything that occupies space and has mass. What is matter?

The three physical states of matter are solid, liquid and gas. Solids have definite volume and shape. Liquids have definite volume but no definite shape and takes the shape of the container. Gases have no definite shape and volume.   What are the three states of matter?

Concept Webbing.   GENERALIZATION MATTER

Evaluation: Complete the last part of KWL Chart What you KNOW? What you WANT to know more? What You have LEARNED? 1.Matter 2.State of matter

DAY 2 Describe the appearance of mixtures formed.

Review: PINOY HENYO

Question of the day :   What will happen if you combine solid matter to another solid matter, solid matter to a liquid matter and so on?

Let’s EXPERIMENT!!!!

Activity 1.2 Mystery Combinations. MATERIALS: Coffee powder Glasses (at least 3 pieces) Mud Salt (table salt) Stirrer Water

PROCEDURES: Using PROBEX(Predict, Observe, and Explain), 1. The teacher presents three glasses of water and three materials (salt, coffee and mud). Using the form below, you will make predictions of what will happen if the three materials are added to the water in each glass.

2. After giving your predictions, add the materials to the water. Then, write your observations. 3. For every observation, give a reasonable explanation. MIXTURES PREDICTIONS OBSERVATIOS EXPLAIN 1.Salt in water 2. Coffee in water 3. Mud in water

Guide Questions: 1. What are the states of the materials used that were combined with water? 2. What happened to these materials when mixed with water? 3. What is the appearance of the combination of the materials? 4. What can you conclude in doing this activity?

D iscussion. What is mixture? Mixture is the combination of two materials without any chemical changes or reaction. Liquid mixture is a common and observable mixture in our daily living. A solid, liquid, and gas matter can be combined with another liquid to form a liquid mixture.

Application Can you explain why air, salt solution, soft drinks and marsh mallows are classified as mixtures?

Evaluation. Which of the following can be classified as mixture? Sinigang Rubbing alcohol Vinegar Ice Copper wire

Day 3 Describe the appearance of mixtures formed. Mixtures Experi mentation

REVIEW: Give insights about mixtures.

  Mixtures Experimentation

Activity 1.3 Mix It Up MATERIALS: Containers Cooking oil Pebbles Sand Vinegar Water

PROCEDURES: Directions : Mix the following and observe. Fill out the table below. Task 1 – Put one cup of sand and one cup of pebbles in a plastic basin. Label the state of matter combined . Task 2 – Put one spoonful cooking oil and one spoonful water on a beaker. Label the state of matter combined .

PROCEDURES: Task 3 – Put one spoonful vinegar and one spoonful soy sauce in a glass bowl. Label the state of matter combined. Task 4 – Put one tablespoonful white sugar into a glass of water. Label the state of matter combined.

Table 1 Mix It Up..

Guide Questions: 1. What do you think happened to the combined materials? 2. Which of the following mixture is / are homogeneous? 3. Which of the following mixture is/are heterogeneous?

Generalization: Based on the activity, what is mixture?

Day 4 Describe the appearance of mixtures formed

Review: What is mixture?

Question of the Day: What are the results of your experiment yesterday?

Group Presentation

Discussion A mixture forms when two or more substances are combined such that each substance retains its own chemical identity. A homogeneous mixture has a single phase and a heterogeneous mixture has two or more phases.

Generalization Concept Hat. What is your final concept and ideas about mixtures. Write your answer in a concept hat and wears it.

Evaluation Submission of answered activity sheet.

Day 5 Identify more examples of mixtures formed

Review: Mix and Match MATERIALS: 4 to 8 pictures/drawing of heterogeneous and homogeneous mixtures examples for every group PROCEDURE: 1. Each group will be given several pictures of mixture. 2. Classify each picture according to the characteristics below: Uniform (Single Appearance) Non-uniform (Two or more Appearance)

Guide Questions: 1. What are examples of homogeneous mixtures? 2 . What are examples of heterogeneous mixtures?

Question of the day:   Aside from the examples from the previous lessons, what other examples of mixtures can you identify?

Presentation Song : Fruit Salad

Discussion 1. What are examples of homogeneous mixtures? 2. What are examples of heterogeneous mixtures?

Generalization Fill in. The ___________ is an example of(heterogeneous/homogeneous ) mixture because it is a combination of ________ which is (solid, liquid ,gas) and ________ which is (solid, liquid, gas) that is (single /more than one) phase.

Evaluation Poster Making. C reate a poster showing examples of mixture.
