Quality Council of India Quality Council of India (QCI) was set up jointly by the Government of India and three premier industry associations to establish and operate national accreditation structure and promote quality through National Quality Campaign. QCI is registered as a non-profit society with its own Memorandum of Association. QCI is governed by a Council of 38 members with equal representations of government, industry and consumers. Chairman of QCI is appointed by the Prime Minister on recommendation of the industry to the government.
Quality Council of India Keeping in view the mission; “Quality for National Well Being”, the council is playing a pivotal role at the national level in propagating, adoption and adherence to quality standards in all important spheres of activities including education, healthcare, environment, governance, social sectors, infrastructure sector and such other areas of organized activities that have significant bearing in improving the quality of life and well being of the citizens of India

Objectives of Quality Council of India • To establish and operate national accreditation program for conformity assessment bodies •To develop and operate national accreditation programs for various service sector such as healthcare, food safety, vocational training, environment and other emerging areas •To encourage application of third party assessment model for use in government, regulation & society •To build capacities at the level of governments, institutions and enterprises for quality improvement •To lead nation wide quality movement in the country through National Quality Campaign •To encourage industrial/applied research in the field of quality and its dissemination

National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB) The National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies provides accreditation to Certification and Inspection Bodies based on assessment of their competence as per the Board's criteria and in accordance with International Standards and Guidelines. NABCB is internationally recognized and represents the interests of the Indian industry at international forums through membership and active participation with the objective of becoming a signatory to international Multilateral / Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MLA / MRA).
NABCB is a member of International Accreditation Forum (IAF) & International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) & Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) as well as signatory to its MRAs for Quality Management Systems, Environmental Management Systems, Product Certification. Global G.A.P ., Food Safety Management Systems, Information Security Management Systems, Energy Management Systems, Inspection. NABCB is also MRA signatory of Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) for Occupational Health Safety Management Systems.
