About This Presentation

Identify the different quadrilaterals that are parallelograms.

Slide Content

What can you observe? What do these pictures have in common .

These are quadrilaterals.

ACTIVITY: The Quadri-Learning Station Students will be divided into six groups. The groups will be named after each kind of quadrilaterals namely: Parallelogram(1), Rectangle(2), Trapezoid(3), Rhombus(4), Square(5), and Kite(6). Each group shall be a given learning sheets where they will write their answers. Five minutes will be the allotted time to see and observe each station. After fifteen minutes, a four-minute time will be allotted to sum up each group’s work/learning sheets.

OBJECTIVE: IDENTIFY QUADRILATERALS THAT ARE PARALLELOGRAMS.

LEARNING STATION 1 REFRESH YOUR MIND!

Kind Figure Definition Quadrilateral Parallelogram Rectangle Rhombus Square Kite

Kind Figure Definition Quadrilateral - four-sided polygon Parallelogram - quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides Rectangle - quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides and four right angles Rhombus -quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides and four congruent sides Square -quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides, four right angles and four congruent sides Kite -quadrilateral with no pair of parallel sides but has two distint pairs of congruent and adjacent sides

LEARNING STATION 2 PLOT, CONNECT, IDENTIFY

1. (-1, 2) ; (-1, 0) ; (1, 0) ; (1, 2)

2. (1, 0) ; (3, 0) ; (0, -2) ; (3, -2)

3. (-4, -2) ; (-4, -4) ; (0, -2) ; (0, -4)

4. (3, 4) ; (2, 2) ; (3, 0) ; (4, 2)

5. (-4, 2) ; (-5, 1) ; (-3, 1) ; (-4, -2)

6. (-2, 4) ; (-4, 2) ; (-1, 2) ; (1, 4)

Guide Questions: Which among the figures are parallelograms? Why ? Which among the figures are not parallelograms? Why ?

LEARNING STATION 3 WHICH IS WHICH?

Identify whether the following quadrilaterals are parallelograms or not. Put a check mark (  ) under the appropriate column and answer the questions that follow. Quadrilateral Parallelogram Not Parallelogram 1. trapezoid     2. rectangle     3. rhombus     4. square

Sum up! HOW WILL YOU IDENTIFY THAT A QUADRILATERAL IS A PARALLELOGRAM?

Test your knowledge. Identify the following statements on quadrilaterals that are parallelograms as always true, sometimes true or never true. Write A if it is always true, S if it is sometimes true, and N if it is never true, on the space provided before each number. ________1. A parallelogram is a kite. ________2. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram. ________3. A square is a parallelogram. ________4. A trapezoid is a parallelogram. ________5. A rhombus is a parallelogram. ________6. A parallelogram is a rectangle. ________7. A parallelogram is a square. ________8. A rectangle is a parallelogram. ________9. A kite is a parallelogram. ________10. A parallelogram is a rhombus.
