Modals are special verbs that behave differently from other normal verbs. Modals are usually called " Auxillary verbs" or helping verbs . Verbs are words that are expressing actions. examples; eat, walk, talk, run, jump etc. These verbs are unlike normal verbs because they provide additional information about how the normal verbs function in the sentence.

LET’S START WITH CAN AND COULD. Can and could has many uses as a modal verb. Both are used to describe an ability and is used to ask permission.

TENSE a form of the verb that allows you to express time. TENSE = KAPANAHUNAN LIKELIHOOD the chance that something will happen. LIKELIHOOD = POSIBILIDAD

WHEN  CAN  IS USED TO DESCRIBE ABILITY, form should be “PRESENT TENSE” "I can watch my favorite anime because I’m Done with my homework! WHEN  COULD  IS USED TO DESCRIBE ABILITY, form should be “PAST TENSE” "I could have watched my favorite anime if I’ have done with my homework earlier!

PRESENT TENSE Can I go to the cinema? They could have won the game, but they didn't try hard enough. PAST TENSE

WHEN  CAN  IS USED TO ASK PERMISSION Can you close your eyes? WHEN  COULD  IS USED TO ASK PERMISSION Could you buy food when you get home?

“May” can be used to indicate possibility and permission. May I go out? PERMISSION May I come in? PERMISSION
