Question Tag TRESNA NUR ANDINI

DEFINITION OF QUESTION TAG A question tag, also known as a tag question or tail question, is a grammatical structure used to turn a declarative statement into a question. It usually consists of a declarative statement followed by a tag (a small question) that repeats or contradicts the main statement. The tag is typically formed by inverting the subject and the auxiliary verb of the main statement, and it is often used to seek confirmation, agreement, or clarification from the listener.

FORMULA OF QUESTION TAG Using the appropriate auxiliary verb: If the main statement contains an auxiliary verb (e.g., be, have, do), then the same auxiliary verb is used in the question tag. If there is no auxiliary verb in the main statement, the appropriate form of the verb "to do" (do, does, did) is used. Inverting the subject and auxiliary verb: In the question tag, the subject and the auxiliary verb are inverted from their order in the main statement. Adding a pronoun if necessary: If the subject in the main statement is a pronoun (e.g., he, she, it, they), it is often omitted in the question tag, and only the auxiliary verb and pronoun are used.
