SKILL NAME /TOPIC: -PROVIDING PASSIVE RANGE OF MOTION EXERCISE

1.Follow the common steps Check physician order and patient condition Identify patient Explain procedure Elevate bed level Break wheel of bed Check connection can interferes Provide privacy

2. Expose only limb being exercised 3. Support limb by holding it above and below joint Or either by Cupping joint in palm of your hand Or, Cradling limbs along your forearm

4. Move limb smoothly and rhythmically within its range of motion from 2 to 5 times for each joint

5,6. Rom – head and neck Flexion Extension

Lateral flexion Rotation

7. ROM- Shoulder Flexion: Extention

Shoulder Abduction: Shoulder Adduction:

Shoulder Internal rotation & External rotation

8. ROM- elbow Flexion Extension

9. ROM- forearm Supination Pronation

10. ROM-wrist - Flexion -Extension -Hyper extension

11. ROM- fingers _ Flexion -Extension

-Abduction -Adduction -Opposition

12. ROM- hip - Flexion -Extension

Abduction -Adduction

Hip: Internal rotation -External rotation

13. ROM- knee - Flexion -Extension

14. ROM- ankle - Dorsa-flexion -Plantar flexion

-Inversion -Eversion

15. ROM- toes Flexion -Extension

Toe-Abduction - Adduction

Step 16: If contractive or rigidity are present apply slow firm pressure without causing pain

17. Follow after care Cover patient   Put side rail up Put bed level down Wash hands
