7. DEFINITION, NATURE AND CHARACTERISTICS OF SHORT STORY Short story is a piece of fictional narrative prose marked by the relative shortness and density, with a few characters, limited setting and a single major event. It is meant to be read in a single sitting.

Like the usual type of story, the flash fiction still has a protagonist, antagonist, conflict, and resolutions.
