Reasonable Domain & Range As opposed to mathematical domain and range

Mathematical domain vs Reasonable domain Mathematical Domain – The set of all possible values of the independent variable. Reasonable Domain – The set of all possible values of the independent variable that make sense for the given situation.

Mathematical Range vs Reasonable Range Mathematical Range The set of all possible values of the dependent variable. Reasonable Range – The set of all possible values of the dependent variable that make sense for the given situation.

Samantha has an average of 85 on 5 history tests. She wants to have an overall average of at least 88. What is a reasonable domain for the score she needs to get on her next two tests to raise her test average to 88?

Nicholas throws a ball into the air with an initial upward velocity of 80 ft/sec. As the ball moves upward, gravity slows it and then causes it to fall back to the ground. The path of the ball can be modeled by the equation What is a reasonable domain for the time the ball is in the air?
