Taxpayer registration on the Income Tax e-filing portal allows individuals and entities to file returns, check refund status, and access tax-related services online. Using PAN as the User ID, users can register by verifying their mobile number and email ID. Once registered, they can e-file ITRs, view Form 26AS/AIS, respond to notices, and manage all tax activities through www.incometax.gov.in

1. REGISTRATION OF TAXPAYER ON

2. Before taxpayers start registration, ensure the
following details should be hand-in-hand.
1.Valid PAN
2.Valid Mobile Number
3.Valid Current Address
4.Valid Email Address, preferably your own, and
5.Date of birth.

INDIVIDUAL USERS

3. REGISTRATION
PROCESS
Perform the following steps to register as an 'Individual User':
1.Visit the ‘e-Filing’ Portal https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/
2. Click on ‘Register' button located at right side of the Home Page.
3.Click on “Taxpayer” button.
4.Enter valid PAN and click on “validate button”
5.Select Yes on “Please confirm if you want to register as “Individual
Tax payer” and click on “Continue” button.

4. PROVIDE THE
FOLLOWING BASIC
DETAILS:
Last Name, Middle Name and First Name
Date of birth
Select Residential Status as Resident or Non- Resident.
Gender (Select from Male/Female and transgender)
Click on ‘Continue

5. FILL IN THE FOLLOWING
MANDATORY DETAILS:
Enter Primary Mobile Number and Primary E-
mail id
Enter Postal Address Details
o Click on ‘ Continue

6. NEXT STEP
For Residents, a six digit Mobile OTP and Email OTP will be shared on
your mobile number and email ID, specified at the time of registration.
For Non-residents, OTP will be shared on your primary email ID,
specified at the time of registration. Click on confirm button.

7. LAST STEP
Enter set password , enter confirm
password and enter “set on personalized
message and click on “Register” button
Confirmation mail will be sent on mail id and
SMS will be sent on mobile number.
