Love should never hurt Dating relationship can be wonderful. But then, you should always take care of yourself. Some students have suffered violence such as hitting, slapping or kicking from someone they date.

Type of Violence Sexual Abuse- involves any kind of unwanted sexual advance. Emotional Abuse- anything that harms your self-esteem or causes shame. Reminder: You deserve healthy, happy relationship. Abuse of any type is never okay.

Abuse and Assault Love should never hurt. But sometimes it does. Base on a research, 1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men were sexually assaulted. 1.5 million women and over 800,000 males are sexually assaulted and or physically abuse by their partner Abuse may take place in any kind of relationship—straight and gay, casual and long term, young and adult. If you have been mistreated, IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT.

Break the Silence: Stop the Violence Parents talk with teens about developing healthy, respectful relationships before they start dating.

How to Communicate None of us are a mind reader, therefore, we have to be open about our needs and expectations. Communicating openly on issues of sex and sexual health is important in romantic relationship. Think about your boundaries ahead of time and discuss them with a partner when you are not currently in a sexual mood.

So what’s to talk about? Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) -Infection that we may get through sexual intercourse. Possibility of Pregnancy Right time for Sex Boundaries

The decision of whether or not to have sex is up to you and you alone. Here are the questions we may want to sort out before getting “in the heat moment”. Am I ready to have sex? How am I going to feel after I have sex? Am I doing this for the right reasons? How do I plan to protect myself/my partner from sexually transmitted infection or pregnancy?

How am I going to feel about my partner afterwards? If you don’t feel right about something, SAY SO.

Some ways to show love Spend time with your partner. -Such as watching movies, hanging out and talk, roaming around etc. Kissing Hugging to touching

Talking to your Parents Most parents want to help their kids make smart decisions about sex. Other than that, someone else’ parent…a teacher or guidance counselor , coaches, aunt, uncle, neighbor or another adult you instinctively trust. Friends, internet and other media can’t give you everything you need.

REMEMBER : NOT EVERY PERSON YOUR AGE IS HAVING SEX.

Ways to avoid peer or date pressure: Hang out with friends who believes that it’s okay to NOT be ready for sex yet. Go out with group of friends rather than only your partner Introdduce you friends to your parents Invite your friends to your home Stick up for your friends if they are being pressured to have sex Think of what you would say incase someone tries to pressure you.

Always carry money for a telephone call or cab. Be ready to call your mom, dad or friend to pick you I you need to leave a date Never feel obligated to pay someone back Say NO and mean NO if that’s how you feel

Drug and Alcohol Survey says that 9 out of 10 people reported that their peers use alcohol or illegal drugs before sex atleast some time. The effect of drug and alcohol can make it hard to think clearly, let alone make the best possible decision about sex.

Basic Right in A Relationship The right to: Emotional Support Heard by the other and to respond Have own point of view Have acknowledged your feelings and experiences as real Live free from accusation and blame Live free from emotional and physical threat Live free from angry outbursts and rage Be respectfully ask than order
