Wind Instruments
The wind instruments are very similiar to today.
Some used mouthpieces, like brass instruments.
Others used reeds, like woodwinds.
Cornett
-The cornett had a mouthpiece like a
trumpet, but used fingers like a recorder
Cornett
-The cornett came in different sizes and shapes, and
made different noises
The tenor cornett is called a
“Lizard” and the bass cornett
is a “Serpent¨
Recorder
-The recorder is the same as
the one you use today.
-The bigger the recorder, the
lower the sound.
Shawm
-The “shawm” is the ancestor of the oboe
and bassoon.
-It used two reeds, just like today's
instruments.
Sackbut
-The sackbut is an “ancestor” to the modern
trombone.
Percussion
-There were many types of percussion instruments
-The most common is the drum
